Switch and Warp Point

Is it better to use switch or warp point to load up on in a deck?
I figured that switch can be very useful if the opponent has something almost killing you and switch out for a KO, but why switch when it can give your opponent an advantage by switching in a healthy pokemon?

i'm playing a gigas deck with the drag off promo, would also like to hear opinions on whether switch or warp point is more viable

thanks!

I'm pretty sure Warp Point is considered the better play because of the uncertainty it forces on your opponent. I've won a couple of games because of the difference.

but i mean if they have like a swarm of machamp in play, wouldn't that screw you over?

If you're talking about Drag Off Gigas, why would it? You might as well Warp Point in case you can't Drag Off or whatever, since most of the time you CAN - it won't matter. Warp out, sac and bring gigas active, oh look I can drag off whatever I want active.

Noo i'm not using Gigas, I mean like, swarms of your opponent on the standby that they could switch in a pokemon if they pleased or something. I don't use gigas

I'm running Vespiquen. Also, i'm gonna test a Gyara/Amphy Deck

Well I imagine that in a good set up, you have a Vespiquen Active and a Vespiquen benched with a damage counter at least, in that situtation it would be best to use warp point, because you can get easy KO's off benched stuff like Uxies and Staters like Sabelye, Spiritomb, Smeargle.

thing is that some people have benched pokemon Like a Luxray GL and a Garchomp C in the bench, so they can easily switch in theirs you know what i'm getting at?

90% of decks in the format can do that anyway, that's the thing. Warp Point is very rarely used anywhere because... you don't need it for most of the decks in this format, everything is very manueverable. It better be, or else Luxray is gonna get youuu!

Here's my take on this:

Don't ever play switch.* Ever. Ever. Ever.

Warp point is always better. Yes, your opponent COULD have a Pokemon active that you want to KO, but you need to retreat, and switch COULD be better. But, there is probably more times your opponent sends up a trash pokemon and warp point would be far more crucial....

Regardless, Warp point is better. Just ran that.

*0.00000000000001% of the time it is appropriate in a deck. But for arguments sake, just don't run it!

I like switch more i some decks, can really take some opponents by surprise and be a huge game winner. But in our current format which is all about cheap prizes wp is obviously better

That depends on the purpose. If you run it to switch your pokemon out, switch is better. If you run it to gust your opponent, obviously, warp point is better. That goes into the strategy of your deck. If you are wanting it to gust, play some free retreaters. If you are plsyimg a tank that can ko anything, you probably dont care to gust. If you play a weak hitter, gusting is important. Its all about what you need.

I think i'd rather Switch over WP in this case then. Maybe when I run Gyara/Amphy I'll test out the WP, maybe. I only like gusting out when its only opponent's pokemon and i choose which one i want out.

Not "if you don't think you would want to gust very often". If you actually anticipate that most of the time gusting will *hurt* you.

Unless you give me a better idea how your deck is supposed to work, I'm just defaulting on what works for 90% of decks out there: gusting = disruption, disruption = good.

This is solid advice. In general, switch has a specific purpose, like retreating dialga to heal.
