hey everyone i have been wondering if gust of wind...er .. i mean Pokemon catcher will be in the black and white theme decks and also speaking of gust of wind can you use gust of wind once Pokemon catcher comes out... i mean they do the same thing right. So thanks in advance for the post!

You won't be able to use Gust of Wind. What matters most is the name of the card and they have different names.

There are a number of cards that have identical effects but different names.
You've never been able to use the one that has a different name (that has been rotated out).

Nothing stops you from calling it Gust of Wind when you lay Catcher down. Consider it a passive aggressive protest towards the name change ;D

As far as it being in the theme decks, I would assume so. They have gotten really good with giving us great cards in the theme decks. I would assume it to be in the water one (or maybe the grass one) as it kind of fits the theme of how water pokemon snipe and attack what they want to.

Have they announced the number of copies of cards in the theme decks.

I will say that it is extremely annoying that they've chosen to reprint the exact same card under a different name.

...

Why?

Yeah, same thing with Cheerleader's Cheer & Fieldworker. Exact same effect, yet not same name. :frown:
Although with those cards (and Mama + Bill), nobody cared because they were really bad cards. GoW is important because it is going to be one of the most playable trainers in the BW base set.

Looking back at the various theme decks i have they have 5-9 trainers and 2-4 supporters.
Revealed so far in the various B/W stuff we have 2 supporters, 1 stadium and 16~ trainers (at least 6 of which are reprints).

The theme decks also tend to have 2 of a trainer/supporter card so at most there'd be 2 catchers in a theme deck if they are even in them

As far as I know, we don't know any cards in the theme decks. Just wait and be patient ;D

No they had a list of the cards in a thread a while back just didn't say how many copies of each card are in them . But I am very happy with these theme decks a lot of good trainers and supporters from what I am used too.

That is true. If that is the case they must be reprinting it knowing it was THAT good and would make them more money. They suck.....:nonono::nonono::nonono:

Part of it at least is thematic. Trainer cards have been Item (well, Goods) cards in Japan since HeartGold Collection and SoulSilver Collection, meaning Gust of Wind no longer fits the flavor of being a Trainer Card as it's not an Item, Support, or Stadium card.

I honestly wonder how many people even have GoW, it's been what, 12 years or so since it was first printed? I mean I still have mine (but I've never thrown anything away either) lol...so yeah, in that regard, I don't think it really matters if it's the same effect under a different name. In fact, for Unlimited that's actually good since you now have basically 8 GoW at your disposal if you want, 12 if you count the pseudo-effect of POW! Hand Extension :D

Functional reprints happen all the time. It's been like a decade since GOW was printed so I don't see the big deal.

I don't see a whole playset being in any theme decks, but maybe 1 or 2.
