The SP Discussion

I am not good at english, hope u can understand

I've seen alot of luxchomp or various SP deck with this line up

line up A
2/2 garchomp lvx
2/2 luxray GL lvx

line up B
2/1 garchomp lvx
2/1 luxray GL lvx

lets talk about consistency in sniping pokemon with the 2 above line ups. With line up A you can easily get ur bench full setup w/o worrying too much on ur lvx getting prized at the start of the game,u might even skip azelf [when using collector] and bench with something useful such as having that extra slot for crobat/lucario GL.

With Line up B the probability of getting the lvXs prized is lower but post a higher risk if they got prized, you need to use azelf to retrieve the lvx just to continue the game.If azelf is in the prize, theres NO way for u to get the lvx unless you a) attach a DCE to ambipom, B) use promocroak. Those moves are definitely desperate moves and your opponent most probably rush for prizes before your setup is complete.

Next I wanna talk about....

the ideal start would be having Weavile G as your active of course. It can dodge donking as well as getting ur bench full immediately next turn if it comes with a collector.Weavile's 2nd attack are rarely used but its a good snipe for <60hp pokemon and also probably useful for countering gengars.

I saw some versions dont run it,the only reason I think it of is that it will become a useless pokemon during mid-late game since you are not gonna use the 2nd attack anyway, and also takes up a slot and wait to be sniped by garchomp.

so guys, which of the lvx line up u prefer to run?? And also will you include a weavile in all SP variants?? [luxchomp/dialgachomp/sablelock]

I'd do the opposite.

3-1 Chomp is great for mirror, and 2-2 Luxray is superior in almost all matchups, except against Dos maybe.

Exactly. 3-1 is good for mirror AND it improves good starts. 2-2 Lux, however, is great against Gdos as well, it gives you an extra bright look attempt on the Regice, or if you run Belt it gives you the ability to attack with an unbelted Lux X if in fear of an otherwise surprise KO.

I'm confused as to what the Roserade GL is in for. Other that the mirror against a smeargle or something, doesn't everyone just run warp points and warp energies? Seems poor.

i was wondering this as well since SP decks need to conserve as much energy as possible. The best thing it can do is to Poison pokemon with heavy retreat cost [donphan, machamp, gyarados] but its pretty stupid to give away 1 prize just for that :confused::confused:

Smeargle, Azelf, Regis . . . all good targets for Roserade.

Warp Point is pretty rare these days.

Warp Energy is only run in certain decks, is not searchable and you're making them use up an Energy attachment just to break the lock.

You're hardly wasting Energy with Roserade. It only needs [C] and you can Poke Turn or Galactic Switch it around.

It's not used for Poisoning Donphans and Gyarados, it's used for locking non-attacking techs active for a Poison KO while you get set up to sweep.

Good answer. Regice seems less relevant (as most gyarados lists i see have warp point and warp energy for luxray) but the other two make sense. I just run ERL though, as it sweeps all those guys (and, even better, is a 1-shot against dialga in that matchup if running fire energy)

MY meta has a lot more diachomp than luxchomp, so I think dealing with that should be paramount
