Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Masters 1st place

^Look man, you seem really sour about me winning for some reason. Pooka and I are both good players, theres no reason to be hating. Crim said it the best, both of us got lucky to get to that point, ONE of us was going to be luckier. It happened to be me.

Congratulations to you and to Kyle as well. Really sucks to see the flippyness in the format, but a lot can change very quickly with Worlds still coming up as well as a new set being added.

Did you miss guerillas personal attack on him?

Lol, I'm not going to lie, Pooka sure makes a more informative tournament report:p

Congrats on the win Justin! Represent!

Pooka hasnt written one yet?

Also Justin, dont take too much away from my comment about how many tyrogue donks, I was just counting for my own curiosity. Seeing as I was donked twice at CDN nats to miss the cut ;x

Nah man, i'm not even really have 'sour grapes' i just feel the need to respond to that guy :/

Great job man! It's cool to say that I lost to the eventual Champ in top cut, but I hate to Copycat into what I did. It sucks to lose that way LOL, but that's how it goes sometimes! Congrats again man, and maybe one day we will play again.

Dude, that is awesome, congrats.

I'm not really sure why everone keeps going back to luck. Don't play flippy cards, don't play low hp pokes.,,

Certain people in this thread need to stop hating on this guy. He deserved this Nats win as much as Pooka did, for sure. Pooka continually said throughout the tournament that he wouldn't have gotten very far without luck:

Pooka said:
"I mean all I gotta do is go first and flip heads, not that hard"

"Um, the first game I went second, so I thought I was gonna lose, but uhh.. hit a few reversals..."

"I think if I go first, I'm a favorite"

"I went first, so it was pretty easy"

"He was playing Typhlosion/ Reshiram, which was one of the tougher matchups, but fortunately I went first so I won"

Not diminishing from Pooka's extremely impressive performance, but he acknowledges that you HAVE to flip well to win. He got pretty lucky throughout the tournament, just not in the finals (although apparently he sealed game one with a flip).

Pooka accepts that coin flips are needed to win, so why can't the haters? Sanchez put on a good show and we should congratulate him for winning Nats.

Congrats.

Okay, I want to post one more time apologizing, my post was a little mean, but I was a little annoyed aT the lack of description in the top cut matches, you deserved to get where you did, but this format is very flippy, and the longer its like that the less it makes games seem skillful. and unfortunately it looks like only flips in sight.

Well there will be 4 flippy cards gone from every deck next set. I mean yes it is a flippy format, but with the next set come some balance to the flips. I think we will see a drop in babies played, which means less tyrogue donks etc. Catcher brings some balance to the game, and allows for what you call, "more skilled players" to really out play their opponent.

Wheres the decklist? All the cool players are doing it...

Props for the win.

It just boggles my mind that Nationals came down to which baby could KO the other one first. It's just so anti-climatic. I mean, I'm sure it was intense during the match, but when players look back and think about the final game, they're going to visualize two 30HP babies duking it out for the national championship (the pokemon, not the players ).

I hope you have a lot of fun at Worlds. :thumb:

Some people on the internet are horrible.

Gotta say that last match was...interesting.
Its a bit sad that flips are what can make someone the winner of a game but... that's the game! We just have to *puts on shades* deal with it.
Congrats on 1st. You deserve it for getting that far anyway. Great job man, hope you do well at Worlds! :D

ZOMG GOOD JOB JUSTIN! I remember the good ol' days of chatot chat when I first started playing competitively and was a runt, and it's so weird to see where that's gone! goooo hatter, HTer, man of the people.

And I was not as annoyed with the fact of the flips as much as the fact that he failed to put it in his report, and made it look like he swept pooka or something.

Who cares? What's the purpose? The game went in with an eventual victor destined. Someone won. You're nitpicking. If a match goes 2-1, it's OBVIOUSLY not a sweep. The two decks were evenly numbered, Justin put up a good fight, a couple flips went his way, he came out on top. They both got almost the same rewards, both got a paid trip to San Diego.

It's not your report, he can leave anything out he wants, he can write an entirely fictional report, he can write nothing at all.

You're embarrassing yourself.
