A New Location for Worlds 2013?

This might be a bit early but why not bring it up

For the record, I don't want to come off as biased, obnoxious, or as a complainer, but here is a serious suggestion for a location that hasn't been used for Worlds yet that may or may not make a lot of people very happy.

New York, New York

The last time Worlds was on the East Coast was in 2008, and since 2004 that was the only time Worlds was on the East Coast. I have no problem with Worlds being in Hawaii every now and then, but people on the East Coast and in Europe get shafted every time. I'm not sure what it costs Foreigners to travel to San Diego, but it is still a bit of money for people on the East Coast

Now I'm sure people will bring up the argument that NYC hotels cost a lot of money, however a certain location in New York City will solve that problem.

The Jacob Javitz Center (not sure if I spelled that completely right)

Why this place? How will it solve the problem of Costly hotels? This venue is one ferry ride over the Hudson River away from New Jersey where hotels don't cost as much. The convention center is huge, and I'm not sure how much it costs to rent out, but I'm sure it can't cost as much as Hawaii.

I'm sorry but after you hold Worlds in the same 2 venues for 4 years, people are going to run out of stuff to do. After one trip to Hawaii I ran out of stuff to do. NYC has tons of stuff to do. There is something for everybody so.

I don't know what anybody else thinks about an idea like this, but I would like to get some opinions.

Being in the Midwest, it doesn't matter which side gets it either way to me.

But from others outlooks, the east should get worlds at least once in a while. I heard it will never be in Florida again, but New York seems like a great place! It's big enough that there are plenty of things to do without getting to all of them in a few days. I would not hesitate one second to fly/drive over there even to play in LCQ.

I really do feel Pokemon should look into doing something like this really.

Just put it somewhere else besides California and Hawaii. It's gotten pretty old for people spending big money on traveling knowing that people in Cali and the Japanese are getting easy traveling. Like the OP said I don't mind it being in Hawaii every once in awhile but to have it back there only two years later it's starting to become annoying. I live in Florida and would love for it to be back here but also wouldn't really mind it being somewhere like New York, New York. Just somewhere else besides California and Hawaii; somewhere that most people afford. Most people can't afford Hawaii. =[

I really only have a problem with Hawaii. If it was in Cali every year (which it shouldn't be, btw), that wouldn't even be terrible, it's just that Hawaii is expensive for EVERYONE, no matter where you are coming from, whereas basically anywhere along either coast isn't nearly as expensive.

I do think the East Coast should get it occasionally, as well. It really should just go back and forth from West coast to East coast, and maybe occasionally be in other countries.

I agree, the Eastern players should have Worlds once in a while like once every 3 years and New York seems like the place to do it. Alternatively, worlds could be in Niagara Falls, NY or even Niagara Falls, ON or even Toronto, ON. Niagara Falls, NY seems like the best idea though (passport avoidance for US players, etc.). It is an attraction on it's own, borders Canada (someplace where people may want to go) is universally close to many states, big airports, etc. And would attract more players because Canada is closer, NY is closer, etc. I want an Eastern Worlds plz

I heard that I wasnt up to PUSA. but that the japanese get to choice the location....

Is there any truth behind that?

Having Canadian nationals every year isn't enough for you Zack ? ;p

I'd be fine with New York, I'd also be fine with Seattle. (I'd actually love to see it in Seattle again. It has not been there since 2002.) Quite frankly, I have been growing tired of seeing Worlds in Hawaii as often as it is. It's too much for many people to be able to afford, whether it be the Americans, the Europeans, and so on. Just getting a plane ticket costs so much, then you factor in the cost of lodging, food, and it adds up incredibly fast.

I would like Vegas, but I gotta remember this is a "kids" game. But New York would be a really nice location for worlds.

Players should stop asking for locations based on selfish personal reasons. The only fair and impartial location would be for Worlds to be held aboard the space station Mir.

Of course, playing Pokemon in weightless space would require a few adaptations and modifications. (If a player's active Pokemon is confused, instead of turning the card upside down, the player himself should turn upside down.)

Seeing as how Mir was burned up in orbit intentionally in 2001, I REALLY hope you meant the ISS...

Either that, or you REALLY want fire to be the only type in format...

Yeah, two locations over and over will irk some people eventually. I never got the chance to go to Orlando in 2008 but it would be nice to have it there again. Alternatively somewhere else good for both tourist opportunities and a moderate climate in which to play cards for a good few days.

No the true selfishness in complaining about the location of worlds is that its in the US every year. So all I ever read online is how US players complain that worlds is only here and here, and that nats is only here. Well quit complaining, we're lucky enough to have worlds every year in our own country. Last I checked, worlds was for the best of the best in the world, kind of like the olympics. But thats also why the olympics are held in different countries all the time, unlike with pokemon worlds. I mean why not hold it in london, berlin, tokyo, or vancouver or toronto. I mean come on people quit thinking about yourself and think about everyone else for once.

Oh really? Last time I checked, the majority of worlds IS USA. It's pretty fair if you ask me. No offence to the rest of the world, but it's a fact.

Of course, it doesn't matter how you look at it when talking about Hawaii. It's expensive for all but the Hawaiians lol

What happens if Worlds gets held in Japan? I'm pretty sure the majority would be japanese players. Thats a fact right there. Reason its mostly US players is because its cheaper for all of us to get to Worlds to play in the grinder than it is for any other country. Most players in the grinders are from the US. Sure you do get some players from other countries such as Yamato. But the reason world's is primarily US, is because its held on "home turf"

^That is always true. But playing worlds and attending worlds are two different things. The same number of USA people would PLAY. not necessarily attend/get invites. obviously due to them being the locals. It should stay in USA because of the sheer number of invites that come from the US.

Worlds is for the players. Not the attendees. Hence the cruel new grinder rules introduced this year.

Anywhere but Hawaii. I can at least fight with plane tickets within the continental USA. Its not practical for me to spoon out 1000 dollars for a plane ticket to Hawaii (I was curious last night and did some crunching on prices and its just not pretty) If you put it in NY, I wouldn't care, you put it in Seattle, I wouldn't care. If you put it in Myrtle Beach, I wouldn't care, if you put it in Miami/Orlando/whatever, I wouldn't care.

Hawaii? No. As much as I'd love to have a trip to Hawaii for 4-5 days, its just not practical in my budget at all.

Has anyone ever thought that worlds should be in a different country?
Why should US get it every year?
I really think it should go to Europe and Asia some time but because all the big wigs in pokemon are from US they dont want to have to go to another country and deal with the problems of being a foreigner. Its sad tho, because if I were them I would love to visit other countries.
As for the location pokemon always dose it at the Hilton and I'm assuming that they get a good deal if they continue to contract with them.
