Does "as written" mean standard unlimited rules or something atypical, like trying to recontextualize what the card says by todays rules?
For example, can I play
Space Center when my opponent has a
Spiritomb AR in play? What about if they have a
Dark Vileplume in play instead? If, instead of Space Center, I ask the same questions concerning
Broken Time-Space: do the answers change? Additionally, is the
errata for Rare Candy in effect?
The answers to these are generally: yes, no, no, and yes. Cards are played as they originally functioned when printed, making exceptions only for reprints (such as Bill) and errata (such as Rare Candy). For
example, when B/W came out and Spiritomb was still legal in modified, Spiritomb's Poke-body only affected Trainer-Item cards from the new set and not Trainer-Stadium or Trainer-Supporter cards.
I totally understand if it's just a "have fun and play with all your cards!" event; I'd just like to know what my cards will do if I participate.
