Does "as written" mean standard unlimited rules or something atypical, like trying to recontextualize what the card says by todays rules?

For example, can I play Space Center when my opponent has a Spiritomb AR in play? What about if they have a Dark Vileplume in play instead? If, instead of Space Center, I ask the same questions concerning Broken Time-Space: do the answers change? Additionally, is the errata for Rare Candy in effect?

The answers to these are generally: yes, no, no, and yes. Cards are played as they originally functioned when printed, making exceptions only for reprints (such as Bill) and errata (such as Rare Candy). For example, when B/W came out and Spiritomb was still legal in modified, Spiritomb's Poke-body only affected Trainer-Item cards from the new set and not Trainer-Stadium or Trainer-Supporter cards.

I totally understand if it's just a "have fun and play with all your cards!" event; I'd just like to know what my cards will do if I participate.

I forgot about Rare Candy. Yes we will use the new errata for that card. And Bill will be a supporter. But If you have an old Super Rod you will use the old wording, if you have a new super rod you will use the new wording. Also Potions will heal 20 or 30 depending on the card. Way too many reprints with different texts to mention. Just with two exeption Rare Candy and Bill the non suporter, we will play as written. Spirtomb blocks Trainers but not supporters or Stadiums

Thanks for the response! Is Space Center considered just a Stadium then or both a Trainer and a Stadium?
