Hey there everyone! I have decided to run tournaments now through the first states Weekend on the year. There will be prizes for the Top 4 finishers in the standings at the end. The Points will go as follows:

32 Person:
1st place - 10 Points
2nd place - 7 Points
3rd place - 5 Points*
4th place - 4 Points*
5th-8th place - 2 Points

16 Person:
1st place - 6 Points
2nd place - 4 Points
3rd place - 3 Points*
4th place - 2 Points*

8 Person:
1st Place - 5 Points
2nd Place - 3 Points
3rd/4th Place - 1 Point


*3rd and 4th place will play it out.

Every so often there will be a double points tournaments (When Cities Start, when the next set is released, and one other TBD).

Rules for all of the tournaments:
1. SINGLE ELIMINATION (The reason being for this is that traditionally when people lose the first couple of rounds in online tournaments... they don't care about playing the rest)
2. All matches are best 2 of 3
3. 3 Days per round (I will not deviate from this. DO NOT enter if you won't be able to comply with this)
4. NXD-On
5. The system is playtcg unless both players agree to play on a different program
6. Have Fun!
7. You can not change decks during the tournament.
[If you enter a tournament and do not show up for your game, you will be given a warning and be banned from participating in the next tournament. If it happens a second time... you'll be banned from future tournaments and will be stripped of all points you may have received up to that point.]

Each tournament will be 16 (or 32) players and will begin immediately when the limit is reached. When the top 8 of one tournament begins, I will start sign ups for the next one. The players in the Top 8 of the current tournament will automatically be entered in the next one.

It won't be starting until August 1st (when all Plasma Blast scans should be up), however, I just wanted to let people know that there will be an R2S for next season! There will be a few changes to this years tournament structure.

~The top 8 players at the end of the season will receive prizes... the only difference is that when those Top 8 players are established, they will compete in a playoff to determine the winner.

~Prizes will be slightly different (will be announced later).

~I plan on having 20 R2S tournaments (HOPEFULLY) before the Top 8 playoff... that way players have enough time to accumulate points.

~There will be 5 Double point events (event: 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20).

~In addition, at the end of the season, whoever has won the most tournaments will also be receiving a prize (regardless of their placing in the Top 8).

Finally, I suggest that everyone plays because 100% of the players who have won R2S have gone on to win Nationals.

Pretty cool. I would hope that top 16 is a bit lenient though. If there is enough interest for top 32, i cant see a downside, especially if you keep sctrict on inactivity, missing deadlines, and the like.

But its cool you do prizes at all. I do think its a bit top heavy though. What about 36 booster codes for 3rd/4th (basically an online box and being 72 of the original 100) and 7 codes for 4-8 (the other 28)? I know if i got 3rd/4th i wouldnt mind the slight decrease in pack prize. It's just a fun community thing afterall.
 
Alright, good idea. I am not really big in the "how valuable codes are" market o_O"

I will be doing Top 32 if interest peaks more, I don't want to spend a week waiting for people to join. Ya know?
 
^Oh definately. It would have to be completely based on interest. And really, i just saw an easy way to make top 4 greater than top 8, but be less top heavy.
 
I think with the prizes you are offering, you would have more than enough interest to be able to allow 32 per tourney
 
Hatter, quick fix for your prizes. The change i suggested has 3rd and 4th place getting 36 packs, and 5th-8th getting the 7. 4-8 getting 7 doesnt work out to the original amount you had.

Dodo: I agree, but it is more important to make sure the brakcet is filled out entirely and filled out quickly. If he gets 27 people in, but is waiting days ont he other 6, it should be policy that ti is top 16 until 32 names are on the list.
 
I would recommend doing Top 32 tournaments, too.
If 16 people sign up in 4 hours, i can´t imagine that i would take much longer with twice as many.
 
Yeah I was gonna ask to just count me in for every single future one hehe. I'm not using an experimental deck again.

EDIT: I have decided to move to 32 and when we reach the Final 8, those people will automatically get a reserved spot into the next one (as sort of a mini reward for making it that far).

I will open sign ups for tournament 2 shortly!

If/when we go to 32 people, then I will (most likely) start next tournament sign ups at Top 8.

IF I do that, would everyone be ok with those 8 people getting a reserved spot in the next one if they wish?

You don't need to please anybody....Your tournament your rules! Rule as you see fit.

My only recommendation would be posting a notification in this thread every time a new tournament sign up starts.....that was people who are subscribed to this thread can find it easier......
