Honestly, the only reason why I chose to build Haymaker (as it was once called) is because I liked the idea. Rainbow's was pretty interesting, but relying on the coins to excess was not really creative as the rule was pretty much abused in many cases. Me, I'm a guy that likes guarantees. Oh well, good job Rainbow and good luck in the next few rounds.

I would give it to TFP. His deck is much more skill based, and the fact that he took advantage of a card that got back Special energy is the reason he should be the winner. Nothing against the other deck, but, there were better choices out there than Vibrava from what I saw in deckbuilding for this format. Both fantastic entries nonetheless.

VOTE: TFP

What do you mean, judge numbers?

I'm leaning on TFP as of now, not official until tonight. All of the other entries seem valid.

Like for Deck, Creativity, and Card Use. It seems a lot of these you are basing on how the cards performed in competitive play and not based on how they should be judged. I see a lot of scores that don't really make sense to me. I may not understand where you're getting the numbers from. Real simple decks like Durant and Quad Crobat G got really high numbers in areas while others I though were really creative did not. I don't think there is any reason my list should have the same score as a Durant deck.

I just want to know what I did wrong with my deck or what you were looking for. A lot of the scores seem inconsistent.

Why didn't you pair Vaporeon with Umbreon? So many cards to support a Dark Pokemon.
It would have given the list a little more twist.
Or what about Techn Machine Ts2. (devolve opponent)

It's hard to make a Vaporeon only deck something creative, but there are options.

But what you really did wrong.
Pichu HGSS is a rare.
Double Rainbow is a rare, and even if it wasn't you should know you cannot attach it to eevee ever.

Oh and btw I am female, that's why Blissey is one of my favorite pokemon.

Even if they were uncommon, there is still the problem only 6 of your energy cards can make eevee's power work.
If you want to play Vaporeon, you will do everything to get it out turn 1, starting with having enough energy providing the correct type of energy.
I would have started with 4 level ball and at least 12 energy providing water to get that vaporeon out.

Not getting a vaporeon out turn 1 wont hurt the deck. Turn 2 is better. All I would do is replace the Pichus with Emolgas and replace the DRE with more copies of energy that can provide water.

The reason you got the score you did was you efficency. Sadly, its just not there, nor is the creativity.

Here is also a quick synopsis of how I grade a deck.

I initially look at the deck in which someone sent me, I start with the pokemon, then the trainers and then the energy. I look up all of the cards, and form my own strategy of what you are trying to do.
I then think of ways to make this deck better, add this, subtract that, etc. THEN, I look at your strategy and explanation of your cards. I then basically subtract some of my ideas based on how you evaluate a card and why it is more usable than something else. I then begin to grade the deck portion and the card usage. After all variables have been reviewed, a score is given to the Deck and Card Use. Then I proceed to the creativity. I see what options would have mad it more creative, why does it deserve to be called creative, have I seen this deck before. Is it a complete basic strategy, etc. After an evaluation of over an hour, I make a score. This is all done as I get your entries. Then once I am ready to post the scores I look it over once more, and I have made some changes to lists here and there, but normally I do not. Then I submit my scores for your deck and carry on my life, basically.

IDK if this will help you at all, but that's about all I can give you. As for your list, Vaporeon. I would have liked to see some more creativity. You made a boring Vaporeon wall...not much else. throw in some better ways to make it a tank, ways to make his attack useful, create synergy between trainers. That's basically what you didn't do IMO.

Okay, I get you now.

I'm with Rainbowgym on this one. But I'm a native English Speaker, as well.

Setting an arbitrary and non-defined value of "using the coin flip mechanic too much" would be like the local police agency putting up a speed limit sign that said "Don't go too fast." How the heck is a driver supposed to know how fast is too fast? Is it 40? 50? 60? 90? 120? No way every driver defines it at the same value.

That was a terrible example of anything, lol. No one complained about it early on until after the round is over. Next time, voice the concerns before.

I'm still not 100% on TFP vs cabd.

I did voice my concerns before.

This was your response:

Or, lose everything. I said, "due note, don't rely on this game mechanic too much."

It will be costly to your score.

It is worth saying this, Just because you do NOT include a single flippy card, your score will NOT reflect it. Just because you use a Flippy card, depending on the reliance of the flip it will NOT affect your score.

Which also failed to actually address how much is "depending on how much"'s threshold.

I think the challenge was clear as could be, tbh. I think people "nuked" it.

No one's score was affected by the coin flip anyhow.

My decision is also Time For Pain over cabd.

18 points and still lost? How depressing.... Guess it was some sort of tiebreak.
Btw. You left out half of my entry....

As a third-party observer with no vested interest in the outcome, I think your coin flip rule was pretty unclear. I went back to re-read the original post where you gave your challenge, and you never set a standard for determining the amount you were willing to tolerate the use of coin flips.

As such, the standard was understood to be subjective (as you yourself admit to), and your subjective standard was certainly unclear. The rule might have been clear in your head, but it was clear in no-one else's.

That being said, I agree with most of the winners (all except one), and I think your scores were pretty fair.
