Location: Oregon State Fair and Expo Center - Jackman Long (Americraft Center), 2330 17th Street NE, Salem OR

Date: Saturday, March 9th, 2013

Time: Registration begins at 8:00 AM
. . . . . . . . . . (You must be in line by 9:15 or you will be considered late and may get a 1st round loss)
. . . . . . . . . . (Players will be seated at 9:30 AM for a Players Meeting)
. . . . . . . . . . (The Swiss rounds will last 6 to 8 hours)
. . . . . . . . . . (Final rounds will be single elimination, 2 out of 3)

Three Age Divisions: Juniors (born in 2002 or later) / Seniors (born in 1998, 1999, 2000, or 2001) / Masters (born in 1997 or earlier)

Format: Modified Constructed Deck (Bring your own 60 card deck - Cards are allowed from Black & White or later as well as Black Star Promos BW01 and higher, McDonalds Promo Collection cards and Black & White Trainer Kit cards) Note: A limited amount of loaner decks are available for new players who want to participate but may not have a legal deck to use.

Style: Age Modified Swiss (all players will play in every round)

Side Events and Activities:​
FREE RAFFLE: This raffle is becoming a NW tradition at States and Regionals, and once again we have some FANTASTIC items. You get a ticket when you register for the TCG tournament!!! There are LOTS of other ways to get tickets, and they’re all FREE. You get another ticket when: you register for the DS side event tournament; as prizes in selected side events; if you bring a new player that has never participated in the Oregon State Championships before you will BOTH be given an entry ticket (… and they stack, so if you bring 5 new players they each get their extra ticket and you get 5 extra tickets!!!), if you purchase $20 or more at the Pokemon store; and finally you’ll get another ticket as you sit down for each of the first three rounds of the tournament!

Here are some of the things you can enter to win:
  1. 550 TCGO code cards each good for a booster pack in the trading card on-line game
  2. A Pokemon Player’s Kit with lots of useful items including a play mat, cap, set of deck sleeves, DS stylus, binder, card box, Pokemon charm, pins a Pokemon plushie and much more
  3. A SEALED Booster Box (36 packs) of Boundaries Crossed
  4. A SEALED Booster Box (36 packs) of Dragons Exalted
  5. A SEALED Booster Box (36 packs) of Dark Explorers

LEAGUE PLAY: Come to our League Play area and battle before, after and between rounds of the main tournament. Best of all you can earn free stuff for those battles, both TCG and VG - THAT'S RIGHT, every one of your battles entitles you to a pick from the card box at the League Headquarters. In the box are hundreds of Pokemon cards from years past, BUT sprinkled throughout the box are some special cards that get you great Pokemon prizes! (games played in the main tournaments do not count)

FUN ZONE: We will have Pokemon related activities such as Pokemon Rumble battles and a creative center for expressing your artistic skills!

BOOSTER DRAFT TOURNAMENTS: We have some boxes of Dark Explorers, Dragons Exalted and Boundaries Crossed that can be used for 8-person booster draft tournaments once you are finished playing in the main event. Pay an entry fee of $20.00 and get six boosters to draft. You will then build a 40-card deck. All these cards are yours to keep. Energy will be provided (we will need the energy returned after the tournament). After putting together your deck (you have 30 minutes to do this), you will play 20-minute rounds in a Swiss style tournament (everyone plays in all rounds). Prizes will be boosters from the same set you drafted: 1st place – 4 packs, 2nd place – 3 packs, 3rd place – 2 packs, 4th to 8th – 1 pack. Entry Fee - $20.00

The Red Lion Salem is offering a special room rate of $70 plus tax for either a king or double queen room to Pokemon players. Here is how you book to get the rate:
Reservations may be made by calling 1-503-370-7888 or toll free at 1-800-733-5466. Please specify the Red Lion Salem, let the agent know the name of the group (Pokemon Championships) and request the group rate when you begin making the reservation. This procedure will ensure that you are charged properly as a member of the Pokemon group.​
The Red Lion is located a short distance from the Fairgrounds: Red Lion Salem, 3301 Market Street NE, Salem, OR. The hotel offers free WiFi, an indoor pool and a fitness center, which also includes a dry sauna. They also have a restaurant and lounge on site. For those wanting to play test their decks or just relax with friends the Red Lion will offer an open gaming room on Friday night.

As a matter of fact I will be signing the deal with the Red Lion Salem on Tuesday. They will be offering rooms at $70 plus tax. I will post the details regarding the number to call and the group discount name on Tuesday night after I meet with the Red Lion staff.

Unfortunately the Red Lion manager was out of the office today so I still don't have the agreement signed. She is supposed to be back in tomorrow, so I'll hopefully have news on the discount tomorrow.

The group rate is set up at the Red Lion Salem. I'll post the full information tonight but the rate should be available if you call and book under the Pokemon Championships group. Here is the information Red Lion sent me:

I just called to make the reservation and they said they do not have a block reserved for Pokemon. :( I made a reservation anyways but it was $109 a night.
 
I dropped off the contract at noon so I'll follow up tomorrow. The rate will be $70 plus tax for either a double queen or king suite. Once I make sure they have told everyone behind the desk I'm sure you can call back and get that changed.

The Red Lion Inn Salem is offering a group discount rate for our Pokemon Championship. You have a choice of a king or double queen room for $70 a night plus tax. Here is the reservation procedure the Red Lion sent me:

If you have any problems getting the rate let me know immediately and I'll work with the Red lion to fix the problem.

With this event being at the fair grounds do you know if they are going to have the concession stands open for food or will we have to walk to what ever is close by ?
