Iron Chef -The Top Four, Challenge!!!

Vegeta ss4

Iron Chef Leader
Welcome to the Top Four round players and viewers. We have seen some amazing deck entries so far, I am hoping we see even better entries into the last 2 ROUNDS.

All players that made it into the Top 8 will be receiving a special prize from the Pokegym. Once the tournament is over, I will PM EVERY top 8 member with your exact placement, and what you have to do in order to receive the prize from the Pokegym. Here are your Top 4 players in this years Iron Chef tournament along with their seeding entering this years Top Cut.

#9 Seed - Hatter
VS
#11 Seed - Eonic

#1 Seed - Rainbowgym
VS
#6 Seed - Time For Pain

It is crazy to think only one number 1 seed actually is in the Top 4. Last year it was pretty much the same thing, the lower seeds really got rolling in the top cut rounds. Well, I think it is time for the challenge.

Here is the challenge Top 4.
SINGLETON....with a couple twists
Unlike last years singleton challenge, we are going with the NORMAL singleton route this time. What does this mean?

Format - DP-PS
Metagame Assumption - Know that your opponent is playing with a singleton deck as well.
The Twists
  • Stage 2 Pokémon ONLY(Stage 2's for the sake of the tournament, are considered "basics" - No Basic/Stage 1 Pokémon(with exception of the stage 2 pokemon.)

This is Singleton in a nutshell.
1) May only have one of any named card in your deck. This mean Dark Charizard, Charizard EX, Blaines Charizard is still Charizard, so only one of those cards may be used.
2) Basic Energy is limited to 8.
3) Special Energy is a single copy in deck only.
4) T/S/S Computer Search-Ace Spec Computer Search, pick one of those and only one, basically.

As per usual, if there are in questions or concerns(legitimate concerns) then feel free to share.

The deadline for this tournament will be tough, you have until This Friday, March 22nd, 1159pm CST.

Just a few silly questions, it's better to ask now than regret it later I suppose.

1. How are Lv. X Pokemon handled? Are they treated as Basic Pokemon as well?

2. Is the Basic Energy limit refering to 8 of each Basic Energy? Or can only one of each different type of Basic Energy be used?

3. Again, just making sure I'm clear the wording. :p Can only one Special Energy be used in the deck, and one copy of that Energy, in total?

Fantastic questions, ill explain.

1) Level X cannot be used, you already have the stage 2(basic), that alone eliminates the option of use of level X's because you cannot have more than one pokemon.

2) you can only have 8 basic energy in the deck, total.

3) you may run special "energy", but only a single copy of the energy. Notice the quotes, that's for the holon castform question to eliminate it as an option.

I will also say this, Hatter asked me on FB. Can Machamp SF ko the other Stage 2 with its attack that KO's basic pokemon, the answer is, YES. The Stage 2 Pokemon ARE considered basic for this challenge. Anything that searches for a basic includes the Stage 2(basic). Hopefully that eliminates any confusion.

Thanks for the response. ^_^ Just to expand on Hatter's question, would the reverse be true? If a card specifies a Stage 2 Pokemon, would that have any effect?

If it says stage 2 anything it doesbt count. The Stage 2 is a BASIC. Hope the clarifies everything.

That clears it up, yep. :) This will defiantly be a fun challenge, I'm looking forward to putting a deck to together, a lot of options to choose from.

Since there is a 3rd place prize. This round will also be the tie-breaker round for 3rd-4th place. The high score takes 3rd. If there is a tie there, then a sudden death match will be the tie.

Do I have to take into account a pokemon might be prized?
Or can I simply have acces to each card I put in the deck?

I have a strategy in mind to use card A, but to make it work I need cards X, Y and Z also.
Now if I have to take into account one of those might be prized me whole strategy fails.
And since we can only use one card of each name it's almost impossible to build something consistent if your "Keycards" might be prized

About the energy, can I use 1 basic dark and 1 special dark?

And are our decks viewed head to head, or is it about hoe my deck performs in taking 6 prizes?

Btw Ban Machamp SF it's the most non creative card in the format you gave us.

So we can use every special energy in the format (if we so choose) as long as there is only 1 of each right? Also only 1 of all the trainers, supporters, and stadiums?
