Who is Ash's father in the anime? I have wondered this for a long time. He is mentioned in one of the early episodes, but is never seen. WHO BE THE FATHER?

Giovanni would make sense. This has been the top rumor since this question was originally asked, and it fits, too.

I'm sure they'll announce it eventually. Like, 10th generation maybe

Someone said it was Oak,imagine meeting your 10-year-old dad.Funny.

Giovanni would be ideal, some Rocket insider could be Ash's real mum and Ash could be hidden with an ordinary family. But then, why is Ash Team Rocket's mortal enemy?I mean look at Al Capone's son,he never got to go to a baseball game with his father.JMHO

i think it was the unown movie but not sure. just go and watch all the movies so far you will eventually find it

oh .

no that wasn't Ash's father in the picture, it was Spencer Hale. The picture had Spencer, Deliah, Prof. Oak, Ash, and Molly, and the other picture was Spencer, Deliah, and Oak when they were a little younger.

I would venture to guess Professor Oak. What, oh WHAT have you been researching, Professor? :D

Giovanni doesn't make sense, it only follows the Darth Vader cliché in making one of the villains the protagonist's father. Ash isn't even Team Rocket's "mortal enemy" like stated above, he just hates them irrationally because they keep trying to steal Pikachu like a bunch of morons.

Also, in the first episode, some people reportedly hear the announcer referring to one of the trainers on the TV as "Ketchum" but that's unsubstantiated.

My favorite theory is Oak. 10 year old grandfather, uncle of your greatest rival, a mother who slept with the biggest authority figure in the area (MONICA!!!!).

Nah, I don't think it's oak. They said his father is also on a lifelong quest to be a pokemon master too, and oak is alawys cooped up in his lab and giovanni is with the rockets.

To tell you the truth, there is a person living with Ash's mother. It's MR. MIME. Anyone else notice this? I may question his presence there. Maybe it's JUST A COINCIDENCE that he is there....or maybe we have the father. If Mr. Mime and Ash's mother are in the same egg group.

*didn't read thread*

1. When Delia mentions Ash's father in the second episode, that is an American dub addition. That was not said in the Japanese version. In fact, Ash's dad has never been mentioned once in the Japanese version.

2. I know someone will bring up Giovanni. This rumour started with that whole live broadway show thingy 4Kids ran where the revelation of the show was that Giovanni was Ash's daddy. Once again, an American addition.

3. In the manga, Ash's dad is mentioned. He was a traveler who came into Delia's lodge or something, and then left. *cough cough* Both the dad and Ash's grandpa were Pokemon trainers. That is the ONLY. OFFICIAL. ASH'S. DAD. PROOF.

4. In the Pokemon 3 commentary, 4Kids says the Japanese will reveal who Ash's dad is in the next season, which was a couple of seasons ago and never happened. They may do it someday.

Ash's dad is probably someone who has never been introduced on the show, and is most likely not an existing character.

No, it's certainly not Oak, watch the Celebi movie again... You will find that the kid that Celebi took with it to the future in Ash's time is Sam. When he get's returned to his time, Professor "Sam Oak" recalls that day, and even pulls out his old scetch book that was talked about a few times in the movie which proves the kid was him. Oak couldn't be the father because he talked about them being life-long friends rather than being a parental figure.

Everyone seems to think it's Giovanni, which would be cool, but I've even heard rumors that Giovanni is Misty's father, lol. You will eventually come to find out that Giovanni dated Ash's mom when they were in High School (According to Japan's Pokemon Live) but they didn't have any kids together, according to the show.

So in other words, no one really knows for sure who Ash's father is yet, but he does have to be someone that's heavily involved in Pokemon because of the Pokemon quest he's on, so he may be someone we've known since the start of the Kanto series that we've seen but Ash and crew never actually encountered or came across yet, who knows!
