July is supposed to be a slow month. Obviously, the Wii didn't get the memo. In fact, it went and outsold the DS. Oh, and 360 STILL outsold the PS3 (which doubled its sales) even though the PS3 got a price drop!

I just bought a 360 this last week, and yet I got a ds lite too, I guess I must not follow trends very well.
 
I love how each Nintendo system nearly doubled the sales of their next closest competitor. Wii still supply constrained, but somehow managing to average over 100k per week. Insanity. And the license to print money continues to roll forward...

I don't think that the worldwide sales can be found right now. Europe, Africa, South America, and most of Asia are still pretty much unaccounted for. However, I'd guess that US+Japan would give a pretty good idea as to where the worldwide sales are headed...
 
US (July)+Japan (last week) has the Wii at ~7 million. I can't imagine Europe+Other being less than 3 million, so I'm pretty confident it has caught and probably passed 360 WW LTD as of this moment. At any rate, it is almost definately past 10 million WW.

The Wii has done in 9 months in the US what the Xbox failed to do in a YEAR in the US: 3.5 million sales. Wii will win in every market. It's just a matter of time...
 
It is relevant. If something is selling so insanely, obviously devs are gonna wanna make some games for that thing.

Please, Nintendo, up production immediately. And cut the price and stop making people buy Wii Sports, damn.
 
If Nintendo upped their production, their artificial shortage will be over, practically their only strategy, and developers still don't give a beep about the Wii, since the only good games coming out for it are, as always, first party
 
Artificial shortage? Yeah, I'm... I'm sure. With this kind of demand, they could pretty much double output and still sell out. But no, I'm sure they're just faking.

As for new games, I'm talking about the future here. It takes time to realize there's a great opportunity, conceptualize a game and develop it. I'm not saying it's absolutely undeniably going to happen, but it would be pretty amazing if devs ignored such a massive market...
 
I need to brag a bit. I was at PAX this weekend, at closing, they finished their omegathon tournament, which is when they pit a bunch of gamers against each other in random stuff. The finals, they played halo 3, not the beta version. Bungie gave PAX a couple discs so we could see a completely new map, with some of the new weapons they added.

Fire grenades ftw.
 
Artificial shortage? Wii is selling out over 60k per week in Japan, over 400k a month in the US, and you're calling it an artificial shortage? When the Xbox and PS3 combined cannot touch those numbers? And the two Nintendo systems combined outsold EVERY OTHER VG SYSTEM COMBINED over the last month?

I actually think that Nintendo is producing more Wiis per week than Sony is producing PS3s and Microsoft is producing Xboxes, and they're selling out completely. 425k in a month is an amazing number outside of November, December, and Launch Month.

There will be a Halo bump in the Xbox, but it won't be huge. 50k bump in a month, possibly 75k, mostly b/c everybody who is buying Halo already bought either GoW, Oblivion, or Dead Rising for the same system.

Artificial shortage...right...
 
halo 3 will move systems for 360 next month...dunno whats coming out for wii before smash in dec. probably nothing.

Well, Corruption comes out... today, and Galaxy comes out in November. That's pretty much the big 3 right there.

What I'm saying is whether something sells more or not, it doesn't necessarily make it a superior system. Take a look at the actual hardware,capabilities, and options of both systems and you'll find the 360 beats out the wii in every sense.

Corruption and Galaxies does offer online/co-op play right? I can't imagine playing the storyline of a game everyday after having beaten it.
 
Actually, the only thing that makes a superior system is games, so I was just saying how there might be a bright future there for Wii.

I can't really call a game good unless I have a reason to come back to it after having beaten the storyline once or twice.The 360 offers what I just mentioned,along with additional downloadable content that can be purchased,but is free in alot of cases.
