Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Magmortar Lv. X

Blaziken can be used instead of Typhlosion.

I put Smoochum d (starter) and one Jynx d in my son's deck with him to reduce retreat costs.

blazeken > typhlosion

blaze can attk the bench and discard a card from ur hand if u need to attch an extra energy next turn when u dont have any energies in ur discardpile

the smoochum/jynx is an interesting idea. i like it.

elaborating upon that. there's also 1-0-1 magnezone. and if something is providing a metal to the active, it's retreat is zero. so enter in multi, dre, scramble, castform. and you can have swapping magmortars sniping 100 every turn.

I'd go typhlosion over blaziken just because empoleon is pretty big in the format. I'd rather have weakness coverage than 1 extra energy in the discard. Anyway it's dangerous either way in the format. I'd wait alittle bit until next rotation or next set when we get more cards to play it with.

Well use Magmortar from Secret Wonders and Holon FF. That's actually a pretty great deck if you get it set up. Flame Body increases Magmortar's longevity. You can Lv. X to Magmortar Lv. X and not even use Flame Buster. You can use Torrid Wave which is so great. Then use Magmortar's attacks, especially Flame Bazooka. Burn the active (30 on tails), hit for 40, and 20 to Benched Pokemon. Holon FF takes care of Mag's weakness to Water. Also, I would run with Typhlosion over Blaziken because of the weakness factor AND because Typhlosion's attack is better in the current metagame. Everyone's DRE/Scramble/Castform crazy, so make them pay for using the card by ERing them with Typh's attack.

Personally, I would rather have the 10 extra HP and the reduced weakness calculaion with Typhlosion over the Bench damage and dbl weakness! NTM if you see a lot of P weak pokes (Mario) in your metagame, you can tech a Typho d in there!

I like Meganium d with it.. FIRE FIGHTING WITH FIGHTING FIRE.. as it helps the speed setup! GL

Magmortar SW is really good.
Heaps better than MT version.

I have submitted a feature article about the deck and it would be up anytime this month so yeh, it have a really good decklist which will mostly counter Feraligatrs with ease if you are really careful :)

However, I have worked out the HP-SW version of the decklist and it will be up, this November so watch out for it.

Oh, wanna join Team Magmortar...? :D

Magmar. Item: Magmaizer. As long as this Pokemon evolved from Magby, you may evolve to Magmortar during the same turn this Pokemon came into play.

Anyone? :)

I play Magmortar with Typhlosion, Jynx, and Holon FF. Jason is right, the SW Magmortar is really nice, but the MT one isn't too shabby either. Three for 80 with no consequence is nice. However, I think SW Mag will be the choice because its body is really useful.

Here is my energy line: 1 DRE, 2 Scramble, 11 Fire, 3 Holon FF
Since Mag's real threat is Empoleon, and quick water variants, 3 FFs are enough to effectively eliminate Mag's weakness, which makes it a complete beast to deal with. Watch out for Octillery, though, because it'll discard it.

Typhlosion is better than Blaziken because it has a less detrimental weakness, and its attack discards anything rainbow, DRE, multi like, and that is awesome in the right situation.

I like Jynx over Magnezone. She's much easier to get out, and fits in with the Mentor for Babies and Basics strategy.

Typlosion is better because it has 110 hp, his attack can be abusive and discard rainbow energy type cards such as castform for 3 for 60, and he only has +30 weakness instead of double
