For those who didn't see it, I was linked to someone to this:

So, EVERYWHERE but the United States is getting only one paid trip to Worlds (unless LDs help, I guess) through their Nationals.

All ratings invites are just that, invites, no trip.

The U.S. will get 8 in from Nats and 4 of them will recieve trips.

Four guarenteed from the LCQ, and I counted 140 total invites, including LCQ and past winners.

So, if there is 140 available invites, and a lot of players outside of the U.S. aren't able to attend Worlds and use their invite, I guess that would mean the Grinder could end up having a big number of invites to give away.

Thats good becuase I was 16th in the Grinder in Hawaii, so maybe next year that will be good enough to get into worlds.

me too lolz, i just wish oregons raitings would update faster, drives me nuts having last weekends tourneys not show up.

Intriguing that its not a power of two total. Only 'intriguing' though. There is nothing inherently correct about power of two attendance.

I wonder if Day Two of worlds will be a T32 or a T16?

31 competitor trips paid by POP plus guardians where appropriate I presume. Hopefully there wil be a few more travel awards from the international distributors.

I agree with Scizor that it is highly probable that several international invites will be unused.
 
Nice to see the boost in the Asia-Pacific Ratings Invites:biggrin:
Australia still gets 2-2-2 invites only? :nonono:
But next year's worlds is going to be a blast :D

If worlds were next week, I'd have so much sour grapes over my PTO not uploading 3 of my BRs yet (which would put me #1 in NA by a healthy margin) =/

It would be a top 32. The cut is suppose to be 25% of the Field. 32 x 4 = 128. That is what they should and most likely will do.

I don't think so, maybe they will add a few unused invites but certainly not all.
 
M_Liesik said that they will add all invites up to 128. PUI is giving out 144 invites to all age groups. Let's say 50 of those invites are to international players and 40 of them decide not to come. That leaves the age group at 104 players in that age group. PUI will take 24 invites (128 - 104 = 24) and put those in the grinder for that age group. True, it's not the full 40 invites that were not claimed, but it was more than half of them.

This means that if a large portion of the international players do not claim their invites, the grinder will have many invites to give away.
 
I can see it much more likely that you will have Western US players win invites, and not go to Worlds, due to the lack of paid trips.

Last year - we had 16 Worlds Trips/ reps from the US...

This year it appears we have 25 (less Canada and Mexico) plus 8 reps from the US...so we double up to about 33 invites, all being said, plus a portion of the grinder invites.

Worlds will once again, I hope have a hugely international feel.

Ah ok, so I was 4 off, probably forgot to count the auto trips from last Worlds, somehow. So, it will add up to 128? That's pretty cool. I think that's the perfect number.

Also, Vince - I'm not sure, man. I think 95%+ of the U.S. invites will be used in Masters, at least, but I can see your point for the other age groups. I can't think of a 15+ player in California that wouldn't go, though.
