thursday my 8 month old cat(cougar) had his leg taken off. We adopted cougar when he was 5 months old. The nurses at the animal hosptal said that the cat was found in a shoe box outside next to the stairs of the place. The vets said that the cat had a broken leg and it was'nt taken care of by the original owner. The leg was ether steped on when he was very young or the cat got outisde and got it run over by a car. So wedsday after school we took cougar to the hospital and droped him of for his surgery.

Now cougar is home and he is running around. But the other cats don't care that he looks differnt form then. They still play, sleep and eat together.

any one eles have a three legged(sp?) cat?

thoughts?

Well, I have ALOT of cats but none of them ever had to have anything amputated. Execpt maybe they're hair....

I had a pet mouse once that only had three legs. I believe it was a birth defect, but I'm not sure. He really just did not seem to notice as he did everything a four-legged mouse does including running in one of those little wheels. And your cat is really still young so I think s/he will adjust very quickly and may actually feel better to have the injured leg removed. Chin scratches for your kitty!

lol... when I first read that, I thought you actually had a COUGAR

I think before I was born, my parents had a three-legged cat. He supposedly could outrun the four-legged cats.

Well, I kinda did. My first cat had one of her back legs crushed by a car, but she was lucky enough to be able to keep it. Sadly, though, the joints in that leg were shot, so she never could bend that leg ever again.

Still the sweetest cat ever, though.
