A Gaggle of BR's...

Well since BR's is over and decks will change a little for cities.
I decided to report on the decks my family and I ran and the decks that we have seen.
Most of these will be no brainier to the community that we ran into those decks.

First off my wife, Nancy, ran Duskqueen/Mightenya EX the whole BR season. Besides having a thing for the color purple, I thought this fit her play style allot. Out of the 5 BR's we played: she made cut once, 5th once and a positive record the rest. Even though it is a setup deck and a bit slow to start, we found out it has major comeback power, great disruption and great for end game finishing (if you don't get stalled out).

Second, Heather ran Flex for the tourneys she could show up at. (She has a job.) I don't think either of us thinks it’s that great anymore. Relying on the castform draw to get going just doesn't work with the quickness of many decks floating around. I guess on to something else for cities, she was a Gatr player at one time :thumb:.

Third, Dale ran an Empoleon variant that we tweaked for 2-3 BR's before we gave up on it.
Then we went with S-cario (Lucario/Shiftry EX/Dodrio). Which he did great with and loves the deck.
His records went into the positive with making top cut one time and 3rd the other. If it wasn't for some bad luck (diced one game and Donk'd the other) his record would be even better with that deck.

As for me, I ran Garphlosion (coined!) Garchomp/Typhlosion/delcatty. I love the deck, fits my style and played it all BR's except last. Always had a positive record with it (5th twice). Has a good (not great) match up across the board, IMO except against 130 hp beast. For my last BR I played S-cario because of the dual lost received from Elevire-b the day before. This tourney I pulled what I call a "Kettler". As in I show up and had to borrow allot of cards to make the deck (thanks Diana and Clay). I think I have only seen one tourney I the past few seasons that Ketter, J. didn't end up borrowing some card/cards. That was a great tourney, made top cut, and would have been able to do better if not for 3 of the 4 decks that made top were anti-power decks.

As for the decks that we saw that I think are to be reckoned with:
Hurricane
Electevire/Blissey

The pure power of these decks in draw, OHKO (even on 130 HP) consistently and speed is crazy.

I know S-cario is a hard counter to Electvire/Blissey but dont know how it fares to Gatr.
Electvire/Blissey should be a hard counter to Gatr.

That is it for now, onto a new set and Cities!

i like the typholosion idea, the nidoqueen deck is pretty good, flygon is not nearly good now because of blissey, and mario variants are still strong, fast, and popular. have fun.

Does Mesquite really count, since all I was borrowing was an alternate art Infernape?

Good work, Mob quartet. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys (and all my other DFW friends) at the next few City Championships.

im not just defending my gatr, moving truk can have pretty inconsistant setups, i havent seen one that gets their ideal setup more than half of their games.

T-2 blissey beats gatr 10 out of 10 . Mine does anyways ;)

Agrees with dana- "should" be a hard game for tropical depression " weedle" lol j/k

Good job to the Lynch's ! How do you like playing in Texas?

Finally the Mobb comes back to where they belong. Hopefully Team San Antonio can go up to some cities in Dallas. Welcome Back.

"WE" love playing here, always have, even when we had to travel to it.
The big turnouts for podding, the vast amount of different decks seen and the "good" rivalries make for intense plays without the drama.

Playing in Florida reminded me of here many times.
GL to you 2 in the upcomming cities.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:
