For the vast majority of you that do not know me in real life, I have a nasty habit of getting crap starts. It's so bad a habit that last season playing METANITE I was getting dead starts two or three games per tournament.

Example: last season, I decide to play Metanite one last time in Battle Roads. I swear to heaven above that one of my starts was this:

Rare Candy, Lightning Energy, Rare Candy, Lightning Energy, Rare Candy, Mew d, Windstorm, draw into Lightning energy. (In that EXACT order!)

That was the closest I've ever come to laughing and crying simultaneously. This kind of thing happens to me quite a lot! Okay, maybe not as pretty, but it is pretty bad.

So, I decide over the summer that I'm going to do better next season. After putting together an ad hoc BlisseyVire at the Ambler Battle Road, I decide that I probably would have done much better if I had remembered to add in Pluspowers. So with the help of Shaw (Who was also nice enough to drive me to the event), I manage to put together a new and somewhat-improved BlisseyVire. Hooray! Cookies for everyone!

However, I'm not the only one at the tournament who had the idea to play a Blissey variant. In fact, it seems that everyone and their mother is using something with Blissey.

But anyway, on to the tournament.

Round 1

Billy vs. Tressely (Sorry if I spelled that wrong) with Blissey/Lucario

Oh Joy.

He mulligans about ten million times, but I get a hand full of supporters and few energy anyway. He can kill things, but I can't manage to kill them back. I proceed to lose.

0 - 1

Round 2

Billy vs. Tristan (Seniors ) with Infernape/Typhlosion

Kind of freaked out with a not so wonderful start, but I gain control of the game after the first few turns and manage to get the win.

1 - 1

Round 3

Billy vs. Robert G. with Lucario/Meganium

Once again, a start with a Elekid/Electabuzz vs a Riolu freaks me out, but I get set up and the game shifts in my favor shortly afterwards.

2 - 1

Round 3

Billy vs. Shaw L. with Exeggutor/Dragonite EX

I felt bad about this one.

For once, I actually manage to get a Chingling start. I go first against his Eggsecute. I Inviting Bell and grab a Holon Mentor. He attaches an energy and does the ten-damage thingy. I play Holon Mentor and get Elekid, Electabuzz, Chansey. I attach to Chansey and inviting bell for a supporter. Shaw attaches another energy, evolves into MT Eggs and uses its first attack, knocking out Chingling. I evolve into Electivire, move Chansey's energy and attach Scramble Energy for the game.

3 - 1

Round 4

Billy vs. Adam C. with Blissey/Lucario

Oh Joy.

I think that I'm off to a pretty nice start. I get a Chingling and get a Holon Mentor, bantering "Wouldn't it stink if all of my Holon Mentor were prized"?

Silly, silly me.

As it turns out, It wasn't three Holon Mentor that ended up being prized, it was three Electabuzz. So, of course I'm thinking "game over" more than that guy from the "Aliens" movie. I keep playing and eventually get out Electivire LV X and play a Team Galactic's Wager. I win on the Rock - Paper - Scissors and draw six, leaving him with only three. He doesn't get much from his draw, and we eventually get to 1 - 1 on prizes. It's my turn and I'm poised to KO his Blissey for the final prize with Giga Impact + Pluspower IF I can draw the one Pluspower left in my deck. My deck is pretty small, so I decide to empty my hand and use Team Galatic's Wager again. I lose Rock - Paper - Scissors and the last card I draw is pluspower.

4 - 1

So I make the top cut and I have to play Tressely again.

By the way, the top four decks are as follows:

2 Blissey/Lucario
1 Blissey/Electivire
1 Turn two Blissy

O_O

Top Four

Billy vs. Tressely with Blissey/Lucario

Game One.

I get some stuff, but he gets better stuff. I scoop to save time.

Game Two.

I manage to win quickly, KOing his Lucario and Blissey. He scoops to save time.

Game Three.

A repeat of the first game, except this time A bunch of my Elekid and Electabuzz are prized.

4 - 2

I seriously need to shuffle better, but I'm just glad that I'm making the cut again.

Props:
Shaw for giving me a ride
Shaw for lending me cards
Making the top cut
Pluspower
Drexel University
Richard Nixon
My homies at Aardvarks
U - Turning

Slops:

Being too poor to get Time Space Distortions
Bad Starts
The crazy roads in Southern Philadelphia
I can't think of anything else. I love everyone!!!

IT'LL BE AROUND FOREVER HEH-HEH-HEH.

I remamber that. That was the funniest thing I saw all year.

Oh I think you gave your bad luck to me. now I'm getting starts like that! lol

So, it goes like this:
T2 Rockville CC 2006
T2 Mechanicsville CC 2006
T2 Northfield CC 2007
T2 Philadelphia BR Autumn 2007

You're a winner to me.

gj man, bieng able to win despite all of that shows that you are a true pokemon master

Top four, not top two.

Dark Weedle - I've been piling shuffling for years, and never did it hate me more than last season. It was really, really bad. I shuffle just as well as the next guy. It's the dark froces of the Lord Voldemort at work.

Personally I think that it is the forces of Darth Sidious, Darth Vader, and don't forget DarthPika!
