POKEMON (12):

2 Honchkrow Lv. 42 (beatdown)
2 Honchkrow Lv. X (beatdown)
4 Murkrow Lv. 20 (beatdown)
2 Darkrai Lv. 38 (beatdown)
2 Darkrai Lv. X (beatdown)

TRAINER (34):

3 Team Galactic's Wager (disable)
3 Team Galactic's Mars (disable)
3 Professor Oak's Visit (draw)
3 Night Maintenance (enable)
3 Moonlight Stadium (enable)
3 Strength Charm (enable)
3 Buffer Piece (enable)
3 Windstorm (enable)
4 Quick Ball (search)
3 Great Ball (search)
3 Castaway (search)

ENERGY (14):

4 Darkness Energy Special
4 Double Rainbow Energy
6 Darkness Energy Basic

MAIN IDEA:

The main idea is to start with Murkrow Darkrai and obtain needed cards from the deck such as double rainbow or Murkrow. Have Murkrow and Honchkrow out turn two and start to obtain control over the defenders hand size. Shady Wing Flaps ensures a stable crow swarm in the start and middle of the match.
Darkrai is used to assist the late Honchkrow assaults and also acts as a needed cleaner in the middle of the matches.

SPOILER:

Honchkrow L.X
Level Up - Honchcrow
Hit Points: 110
[CC] Feint Attack
Choose one of your opponent’s Pokemon. This attack does 40 damage. Ignoring weakness, resistance, and any other effects on that Pokemon.
[DDC] Shady Wing Flaps: 60
If the defending Pokemon’s hit points is reduced to 0 by this attack, you may search your discard pile for one card, show it to your opponent, and put it in your hand.
Retreat Cost: none
Weakness: L (+30)
Resistance: F (-20)

Darkrai L.38
Basic Darkness Pokemon
Hit Points: 70
[.] Reaching Arm
Search your deck for one energy card, show it to your opponent, and put it in your hand. Shuffle your deck afterward.
[D][D][D] Dark Pursuit: 50
If the defending Pokemon is Cresselia, this attack’s base damage is 100 instead of 50.
Retreat Cost: C
Weakness: F (+20)
Resistance: P (-20)

Darkrai L.X
Level Up - Darkrai
Hit Points: 100
Poke-Body: Dark Shadow
All basic Darkness energy cards attached to your Darkness type Pokemon gain the following text: “If the Pokemon this card is attached to does damage to any active Pokemon, that damage is increased by 10.” This Poke-Body can’t be used if another of your Pokemon’s Dark Shadow Poke-Bodies is already in effect.
[DDC] Eternal Darkness: 40
The defending Pokemon is now asleep. In between turns, the opponent flips two coins, and the Pokemon doesn’t wake up unless both are heads. If both are tails, the defending Pokemon is knocked out.
Retreat Cost: C
Weakness: F (x2)
Resistance: P (-20)

Moonlight Stadium
Stadium
Each player's Psychic Darkness Pokemon have free retreat.

It looks good, but I personaly would (If you have them,) switch the 3 Night Maintenance for 3 TSD (Time Space Distortion.) And also I would try to fit in a few trainers like Pokedex (the handy 910is one.) or Victory medal (If you have one - a few) that let you draw without being a trainer. (Maybe remove a few plus power or strength charm?) Other than that it looks nice, hope it works once SW comes out. =D

Looks good. I've bin wanting to build one of these my self.

Oh did you call it, The Raven after the poem by Edger A. Poe?

Dark Umbreon:

Have you seen the new Minun SW? Put one of them in the bench, and you got a instant draw when your Murkrows fall. (Personally i dont think 60 Hp survive too much :frown:) But hey! Its a great deck! :thumb:

Hi greenzangoose,

Thanks for the review. What should be taken out for some Pokedex? On usual one will look for Balls or Galactic trainers in this deck. Do not have the other cards recommended. Thanks for the assistance in advance.

Hi DarthPika,

Thanks for the review. The deck was indeed named after the poem.

Hi Ikari,

Thanks for the review. Considered to use some Buffer Pieces for Murkrow to enable him to withstand the offense a little more. Minun looks indeed nice. Consider to tech two of them into the current Leafeon deck since it can use some instant draw once Leafeon bites the dust. In case it work there it should also work well in this one.

I thought you did, but just wanted to make sure. Do you live near Baltimore or have you just read Poe?

Hey, it's just in time for Halloween ( at least for play testing).

You NEED TSD in this deck.

Hi DarthPika,

Read some stuff from him and assumed this would be a nice title for this deck with Halloween around the corner. Do not have Time Space Distortion since we use JPN cards here and this card was not released in one of the sets. Decided to run some Night Maintenance instead to retrieve the lost Murkrows. In case there is an idea on how to ensure Murkrow lasts for two turns let me know. Thanks for the assistance in advance.

Nice idea, but I just don't think Murkrow can stand all by itself. You need at minimum 2 turns to power up a Honchkrow if you manage to draw a DRE, otherwise you're looking at a turn 3 when you'll finally be able to attack. Your opponent can easily take out a Murkrow or two during that time, leaving you with 1 to go and attack before you have to send out Honchkrow himself.

Also, it's not known yet if we're getting Suzy's Lottery in SW or in DP4 for us.

Hi DarthPika,

Our newest set would be DP4 in about one week from now. Hench the increased amount of deck ideas I submitted.

Hi Regis Neo,

Murkrow's HP is indeed an issue. Will have to test that out a little more. In case Murkrow needs assistance Aipodom would be under consideration as a second smaller line. We use JPN cards here ;).

Hi DarthPika,

Once the cards arrive here I will let you know. Sure we can trade in case you have some JPN cards from the DP sets.

Hi Van,

Absol sounds nice. Will consider either Absol or Weavile as a smaller second line. At the moment it seems that the deck could use a cleaner more than a starter since Murkrow enables a nice start but tends to lack in the middle of the match.

Ambipom/Murkrow has been tossed around a little bit. 4-2-2 Murkrow, 3-3 or 2-2 Ambipom. "Nevermore".

Hi bullados,

Thanks for the review. Ambipom did not float the boat after some test runs. looks like a cleaner is needed to knock out someone in one shot to assist the crows a little more in the middle of the match. At the moment a teched Darkrai line looks nice to me. It has the abilities to clean the battlefield and boost late Honchkrow assaults in the middle of the match. Let me know about this idea.

Hi folks,

Based on the reviews the deck above has been modified to include Darkrai and a stadium which assist the Murkrow swarm and hands Honchkrow and Darkrai free retreat abilities.

I was thinking maybe to replace a supporter with Castaway to get a Strength Charm, it can also get more Darkness energy so you can search for DRE or Special Dark instead.
You can replace one Strength Charm with Pluspower. I was also wondering
why Dual Ball instead of Great Ball since there are no pokemon that benefit for being placed
directly on the bench.

Hi Alazor,

Thanks for the review. Tried Castaway and it turned out that it is not that much needed. Will have to test out whether Dual Ball indeed works better than Great Ball. The latter one is a secure benched basic while the former one could possible net me a second one.

Hi BBC,

Thanks for the review. Will check out the small modification. Scott could potentially net me Galactic's Wager but could also be the fourth Moonlight Stadium needed to retreat someone for free.
