Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

The new Nintendo Power

Meh, my subscription ran out a few months ago, but they changed the layout again? >.>

I still prefer the older issue layouts.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Ok, just from a quick look at Wikipedia, it's not even published in-house anymore. It's now published by Future US, which also publishes Official Xbox Magazine, Playstation: The Official Magazine, PC Gamer, and some other oddball ones. Sounds like a dumb move by Nintendo, I don't think I'll renew my subscription ever now.

I know whats a good idea lets go from a publisher that only does this one main magazine to a publisher that does a bunch of mags that all for the most part are really bad.

I sent the company an e-mail telling them their poor job on the magazine.

PC Gamer is an OK magazine. The rest are so darn biased towards whatever systems they promote. They also seem to give first-party titles better scores than multi-platform games.

Wow, I cant beleive this thread. Yes, Nintendo Power is being published by Future US. I also think that Nintendo is still in complete control as some of the people on the magazine from before are still on it. I also think the letter included said they were working with Nintendo, not that Nintendo sold them the rights. The issue was not as good but I assume that was because of the changeover. I do like that they are planning to do a Holiday Issue. But, I also expect things that werent in the magazine this month will be back in the next issue that isnt the Holiday Issue. I am not planning on cancelling my subscription. I have been a subscriber since issue 38 and I just dont feel like right now is the correct time to unsubscribe.

I actually used to subscribe to Nintendo Power. I loved the free Strat Guides they gave you. I think I actually got a copy of issue #1 when it first came out.

The Nintendo Power original Pokemon games Strategy guide referenced Mulder and Scully when it talked about the tower in Lavender Town.

I missed the community section this month. Other than that, it was normal to me =/

I like Nintendo Power because it is VERY cheap! For $19.95, you get a strategy guide (worth about $16) or an awesome shirt! Dependilng on if you want one of the gifts bad enouth, it is like they're giving you a magazine for practicly nothing. It is very good for how cheap it is. Most gaming magazines are twice their cost...

the only thing better than community is pulse and COMMUNITY ROX, they scratched the real unbiased person review for an "above the influence" ad yah we HEARD U THE FIRST TIME yay smoking is bad. NOW GIVE US OUR COMMUNITY BACK!!!:thumb: trust me i know what im doing, i think:thumb:

IMO, first party mags are always bias towards their own reviews, think about it, can Nintendo power Xbox mag or Playstation nation afford to insult their own games? No way, they will lose money that way. If you ask me, the best way to judge games, is to play it for your self.:thumb:

Nintendo Power used and has had at various points very tough rating systems. Of course any official magazine is only going to talk about said product biased or not. They aren't going to recommend another version of the port if its on their system, they assume if you buy the magazine you want a game on that system.

Nintendo Power's had been a pretty poor magazine in recent years until the last make over which they've had for 2 years or so, it then became a very good magazine again. Not sure what will change now but give it the benefit of the doubt, it might still be good or even better.
