i've beaten the first 30 event battles but the rest arent unlocked. do i have to go and beat the triforce one again and beat ganondorf and unlock him before i can play the rest or what?

According to Nintendo's Guide. You must Win 27 different matches from Levels 1-29 to unlock 30. Then unlock Falco, Jigglypuff, Luigi and Young Link to unlock 31-39. Then Complete 30 levels and unlock all Characters except Pichu to get 40-50. Finally, Complete 1-50 and defeat Giga Bowser in Adventure mode to get 51.

i hate event 51! ive beaten it with every character but the 3 worst (mewtwo, pichu, and game and watch)!
those characters suck so bad, has anyone else (im sure a lot have) beaten them with them poop characters?

thats cool, i was suprised that it was easier for me to beat it with yound link than plain link.
its also easy to do with gannon, his foward air is so good!

I beat it first with Mewtwo, who I play as most commonly.

Certainly, though it's been quite a while. Most of it involved doing damage from a distance, charging B whenever the ability arises. Firing in the direction of one's enemies will give you enough of a push sometimes to get you away from an attack, making it almost like a dodge but without the invincibility. Tricking Giga Bowser to the edge, as always, is a priority at the beginning of the match. Mine either ends up KOing itself with down-B, if I can get the reverse throw in, that works as well, and Air-down A usually does the trick if I'm aerial at the time, although its up-A and Smash-up A have some real bite to them.

Once there, it's a somewhat easy 2-on-1. Don't forget about your forward-B and down-B; proper timing can be the turning factor of the battle.

^ its just fun to do, you being able to say that you beat 51 with all the characters.

i can get so close with pichu and almost do it with mewtwo (megavelocibot's help) but its IMPOSSIBLE to do with game and watch!

Yeah. Game and Watch fails, mostly. I think I got somewhat far by C-stick spamming left/right and down.

I beat it with G&W.
All I did was jump around, and wait for things like Bomb-ombs to appear, throw them and then hit everyone with sausage. Sometimes, Judgment is also a good move on Giga Bowser.

Three minutes and twenty seconds with Mewtwo after booting up the disk I haven't used in 3 months.

Mewtwo Advice:
- Abuse the (directionless)-air-A when hit and coming onto the stage. If room provides, and you are not at risk of missing the stage, charging B is a good thing to do.
- You can wear down Giga Bowser pretty easily, if you use Mewtwo's forward throw (the one that releases mini-Shadow Balls) on your other opponents.
Upon repeating it, and taking about 9 more tries to beat it again...
- If your hands get tired, take breaks.
- Giga Bowser can be pretty liberal about that down-B usage.
- Make use of your down-B when Giga Bowser is gone. It makes the opponent easier to take down if they have high damage.
- Side B is mostly useless in this event, except for minor stage-recovery movement.
- Avoid Up-B, if at all possible, unless everyone is crowded at the edge and you can get over Giga Bowser with your teleport destination.

thanks for the great advice im going to try that tomarrow. maybe even G&W...
with pichu ive just been using down b at an angle so that i dont hurt myself. over smash is really good too.
