Sorry I missed last week--but then again, I'd need to stagger eventually to hit week 17 on the dot. First the standings:
1. BLiZzArD-------------8-1-0---.889---1278.08---W-3
2. Gridiron Greats------7-2-0---.778---1289.34---L-1
3. Xatu-----------------7-2-0---.778---1249.94---W-2
4. Play To Win The Game-5-4-0---.556---1171.03---W-1
5. The Indian-----------4-5-0---.444---1186.75---L-3
6. Ruiner---------------4-5-0---.444---1144.13---L-1
7. Plusle and Minun-----3-6-0---.333---1007.47---W-2
8. T-Tar----------------3-6-0---.333---949.61----L-6
9. Lovie's Firm Armpits-3-6-0---.333---852.86----W-1
10.The Moonanites-------1-8-0---.111---937.41----L-7

Another reason I didn't want to post the standings was because of the number of inactives. There weren't that many, as well as a unique situation where we actually had someone who couldn't field a complete team (the waiver wire exists for a reason, people). It's not anywhere as bad as last year, but here are the inactives (both only missing one week):
T-Tar and The Moonanites. The only I bring that up is to pose a question: Does poor performance lead to abandonment or do people just leave?

Warning: The following paragraph may have only a limited view of a situation, and may include whining.

As a side note, are you sure that we can't go to 1 QB/DST next season? Maybe it's just that I always get stuck with a horrible second quarterback, but they're going down like flies this year.

On a final note, the trade deadline is a week from tomorrow (November 16). Does anyone want to trade a quarterback for a good wide receiver?

go 1 QB for next year, and set the maximum teams to 12-15. I like DSTs, as they're pretty much plugNplay for the most part. You could make those 20, and I'd be happy.

And I'd just like to get ANYTHING for the load of junk on my team.

Oh yeah. I AM NOT A BYE WEEK!!!!!

1 QB is fine. There are so many good DSTs out there that you could easily have 3 or 4 and there wouldn't be a want for talent there. 2 is quite balanced.

*still watching closely* BTW, where do you have the games, and how do you communicate primarily? I think I remember something about Yahoo or sumthin'.

While I'm glad I have agreement on the QB issue (where was this support last year when I proposed the issue), what are you guys talking about with the DST's? Those are the full team defenses, and those are the only ones I know I couldn't increase. Are you confusing them with individual defensive players (which I cut from 6 to 2 in an effort to shorten the draft)?

I thought DST stood for Defensive Starters. My bad. Nah 2 is probably still good for those. They generally aren't as important to a good team as the QB. You can have two bad Ds and still win. You can't have 2 bad QBs and still win.

IDPs can be increased if you want. I like them. It adds an extra dimension to the game, IMO...

Look at teams right now. They are stockpiling midlevel QBs just so that they can compete on a weekly basis. I believe that every team has at least 4 QBs stockpiled. Not so that that team can use all four QBs, but so that your opponents can't get to them.

There are only 32 QBs that are viable each week. We have a 10 team league. That means that people are stockpiling worthy *BACKUPS* so that opponents can't get a crack at them. That's insane, it's stupid, and it needs to be changed.

What I wouldn't give for a pure "utility" spot on the teams...

You pretty much summed up my reason for not wanting 2 QB's. As for the utility spot, I wish I could. Even though Yahoo has the easiest interface, it has the fewest options by far. No live scoring, limited roster options--the utility spot, as well as no WR/RB/TE flex (if we had one, it would probably replace the two flex's we have now)--but last time we tried to switch, we had the horrible experience that was the EA league. If anyone has any ideas on better sites for next year, I'd be happy to hear them (and only make the league if there is total agreement).

Do NFL or ESPN have those options? What are they like? I'm also pretty certain there's an AOL one, but I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole...

there are not 32 Qbs right now that's only starting and with the way it's going there will be 70 different starting QBs

He didn't say only 32 QBs, he said 32 viable options to start every week. Every team can only start 1 QB last I checked, so that means in fantasy, we can only have 32 viable starting options at QB. We have 10 teams starting 2 each, so that's 20 right there, plus everyone has at least 1 backup, so that's 30 right there. And let's be honest, only 10-14 QBs really are viable options in fantasy. A league like ours where you have 2 QBs starts I'd say at least a dozen QBs that wouldn't be considered viable options in 1 QB leagues. That's why the 2 QB system in fantasy is a joke, it takes out a ton of skill and inserts a ton of luck. If you happen to start the #20 QB in the league the one week he throws for 250 and 2 TDs, you can steal a win you otherwise wouldn't have gotten. The fewer the players on a team roster, the more skill is reflected in a fantasy league.

are we a bit bitter? I have 2 of the higher end quarterbacks in the league and a pretty good backup your saying it took no skill to realize who was going to be a viable starter? I'm sorry I disagree I missed the draft and had to fix my team afterwards I did and I'm in 1st place I've lost 1 game and it was by less than a point yes my quarterbacks earn me alot of points but honestly I have a stand out player every week I do the research and try to field the best team I can every week I've had a great run and resent the fact you say it's luck.

Lol, I don't think what you've done is luck at all. I think you've done a great job and you've used the wavier wire greatly. I missed the draft as you did, but I was lucky enough to know I was going to miss so I ranked my players. I am just saying in general, the larger the amount of players that are used, the more luck that is thrown in. This is because you end up starting people who normally are not started, and you could fall into someone having a game in which they double the output of the rest of their season in one game. This is just proven fact from 10 years of playing in fantasy and over 80 leagues in that time, and everyone who's played fantasy forever agrees on this stance. I am not sour at all, nothing important has happened yet, bye weeks are still cycling, and I am more than comfortable with the way my team is looking.
