Hey people, i have been trying to find ways of shutting off Sceptile ex d's pokebody for ages now, and short of bribing your opponent to play down a cessation crystal there haven't been many options. However, with the release of the new SW set there is finally a solution.

WEAVILE! As well as being a nasty card in itself it can turn your active to dark type, combine it with Battle Frontier and you have a winning combo. not only can you attack for 2 energy with sceppy ex, it then reverts back to p type in your opponents turn, activating the body :) mild shutdown is provided by BF as well shutting down Delcatty, flygon d and Blissey in particular.

Pokemon: 16
Treecko x3 (non delta)
Grovyle x2
Sceptile ex d x3 (beatdown)
Sneasel x4 (starter)
Weavile SW x3 (setup + disruption)
Weavile DP x1 (beatdown)

Trainers: 30
Rare Candy x3
Battle Frontier x4
Phoebe's Stadium x1
Scott x2
Castaway x2
Strength Charm x2
Roseannes Research x1
Warp Point x2
Prof. Oak's Visit x4
Copycat x1
Bebe x2
Celio x2
Night Maintenance x1
Pokedex x3

Energy: 14
Dark (Special) x4
Dark (Basic) x5
Delta Rainbow Energy x4
Psychic Energy x1

Strategy: As stated above.

Bear with me on this one, I was thinking of the list as i was typing

I don't get it, how do you think you can attack with Sceptlie EX for 2 nrg without a cessation being in play?
While Weavile turns the Type of Pokemon into Darkness, it doesn't change the energy costs.
So if that's what you were thinking of, it doesn't work, Sceptile EX will be a darkness Pokemon but still needs PCC to attack.

Here is how it would work: Sceptile ex is active. Weavile is on the bench and uses its Pokemon Power. Now Sceptile is darkness type. Battle frontier is in play as a stadium that negates PokePowers one darkness, metal, and colorless pokemon. Since Sceptile ex is currently a darkness pokemon, Its power is stopped, thus allowing it to attack for a lower amount than with its pokebody active. Hope that explained it. To be honest, I think it would just be easier to attach the extra energy rather than trying to set all of that up!

It turns into :dark: pokemon, then remember what BF does? It shuts down power and body of ALL :colorless:dark::metal: pokemon. So, sceppy ex d is :dark:, no body = 2 energy to attack.

attaching an energy takes 1 more turn...

adding weavile and BF just to counter 1 ex...

just think about it.. you really think thats smart?

While I find the combo pretty interesting actually, I just don't think Sceptile Ex d really needs all that much in the way of energy accelration. This combo would have been really cool last format though.
