OK , I am curious to how many people her ehave actually bee nripped off or received something that is not even what you have bought? Or possibly not as advertised?

For the second time , knock on wood it doesn't happen again , I hae bee nripped off and this time by what is so called a power seller! hmmm ithought these guys are people you can trust? Anyways I bought over 2 months ago a Empoleon Lv.X corrected version and it seems kind of weird the guy said he doesn't prefer people to use the ebay checkout but he emails you his address and you send the money to him there..... I guess that as my first stupid mistake. once he received he said he shipped out my card and approx 3 week later I sent him a email saying it had not arrived and his reply was wait until a month is up and I will resend if nothing arrives by then. Well a month pass and still no card so I email him and he states he will replace it with another so I wait and it now has been 2 months and nothing. I did a complaint and enow have escalated it to a claim so he emails me and asks why I am doing this? I told him it had been 2 months and enough is enough! We get into a pretty good arguement through the ebay email system and he eventually says "gee I made a huge mistaje and I haven't received your money so I guess I will be opening a non-paying bidders report on you now" Little does he know that at the bottom of each ebay email there is a report option! So I reported it with my reason why and it is to do with a claim I have open. His best reply was "I am a power seller and who will they believe you or me?"

From then on I got his private email and told him exactly what I thought of him and his power status on ebay.:thumb:

Anyone else ever had a bad experince on ebay? Anyone wish's to know the ebay in question please pm me and Iwill be happy to LYK who it is and who to avoid.

Not me. It’s important that you read carefully before bidding on an auction, and if you are still not sure, email the seller. Another important reminder is, if you see a picture of the item you want; it does not mean it’s for the product, it is simply an advertisement.

I am sorry you were ripped off on EBay but you learn for your mistakes. I appreciate, that you are sharing your story so that others one day, will not get ripped off.

Knock on wood it has never happened to me. But then again, I'm a seller on there myself. I may not be one of those power sellers, but I have earned every single piece of my 100% positive feedback on there with pride. I do whatever I can to make my buyers happy. I have had users try to buy electronics from me, and attempt to scam me, but I'm smart enough to not bite down on the bullet.

The worst thing going on with ebay right now has to do with sending to bidders in the UK. It's been taking longer than normal for items to get over there due to the recent postal strike that just ended. I've had users email me wondering where their stuff is, but usually a week or so later, it gets there. I'd like to keep my feedback where it is. I'd prefer not to lose it to someone being stupid.

Heck, what about sending to Canada?

Well..

1. Hong kong items and sellers.
They are not very reliable and known for fakes, and knock off items.

Thats prob. my only problem with ebay.

I got ripped off once, and it was from a guy with 3,000+ 100% feedback. I was able to get my $20 back, though.

But I've bought from fourty-ish people with under 100 feedback, never any problems.

Go figure.

My bro got ripped twice. Once trying to buy a PS2/Gamecube/Xbox shortly after their release. It turns out he wasn't selling anything and was advertising those free systems for referring people ripoff thing. I don't remember whether he got his money back though. Another time he bought a box of ygo cards and the seller never sent,he got his money back through paypal tho.

Another time I waited a month for an Absol ex and filed a complaint through paypal. He never responded so I got my money back. After that happened he immediately responded and finally sent and I sent the money.

Paypal FTW!

I never got ripped by a seller, but as a seller myself I had this one n00b that wouldn't pay me. I was selling a few of the"cool" yugioh cards that had been sitting in my attic for years. He was the only bidder and ended up winning. I waited and waited and waited. Never paid so I opened a dispute. His response was "sorry i dont want the cards anymore" Later he said, "give me your address so I can pay you", (he should have had my address in one of his eMails right? But anyway I only accepted PayPal) next came the classic "i dont have any money" Still never paid and I closed the dispute and he got an unpaid item strike. Now I was not the only one that he did this to! Three other people bombed his feed back and got him banned! BOOYAH! I was nice and only left him neutral feedback since he gave me a learning experience of how to deal with non-paying buyers,.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Oh and the best part of all was that he left me Positive feedback before he ever paid and I shipped! So I had no threat to my feedback during the dispute. The feedback just said: "good seller" But it later go removed since he was active for less than 90 days :(

How would your advice have prevented what happened to him??

Anyway, I was ripped once years ago. A lot of people had been. I wrote it off, but eventually, he did send the item! the ebay process worked on that one.

One other time I got a card in worse shape than advertized, but I had gotten it cheap and so let it go.

always send payment by paypal. whenever i dont receive the item from a seller and he doesnt reply to my emails, i do the paypal/ebay item not received thing. it usually spooks them into sending the item, and if it doesnt, paypal refunds my money. paypal always sides with the buyer unless the seller sent with delivery confirmation. kinda unfair for the seller tho

I once ordered a book from half.com for school and it never came, I ended up ordering another one for the class. How inconvenient.

I have been a member since July 4th 1999. I have been ripped off a few times. Almost all of the sellers had really good feedback. It gets frustration after awhile. It really can be annoying if the item is expensive.

Only had one dispute, knock on wood, but I knew going into that trainsation that the odds were against me.

What fustrates me more often is the delay. There are a few sellers that I go back to again and again becuase when I buy from them I get my cards within 3-4 business days later EVERY time. Other sellers take WEEKS ... and it drives me crazy.

Once, I bought a supposedly NIB Emerald version, when I got it, it was already open, the manual was photo-copied, and the emerald was fake, everything in the game seemed normal but it would always reset after I beat the Elite4. He said he lived in the US but it turned out he was from Hong Kong.

I've never been ripped off, but I've sold a few XBox cartons for the full price of the XBox ;) (j/k, I don't sell on eBay)
