This set focuses on well-known trainers (OK, so some of them aren't well-known) that (for the most part) don't hold some gym, elite, or evil position. <OOPS!>, some of them were one-shots in the Pokémon anime! In the Retrotrainer block of this series of sets, 12 trainers are familiar faces to the CaC forum and get their fourth-generation fix. Here, we have someone who runs a circus, a CaC-specific Grass-type specialist, a Suicune chaser, and Hoenn's first-ever native son to appear in the anime.

However, just because this block of sets is called Retrotrainer, that doesn't mean there can't be new faces. These faces are familiar to those who've watched the Pokémon anime but haven't yet appeared in a CaC set. How will two champions, one of the Hoenn League Tournament, the other of the Hoenn Grand Festival, fare in their CaC TCG debuts?

Each of the trainers in this set have Pokémon and Trainer cards to match them. There will also be unique DS- and Wii-transmitted data that will be revealed at the end of the Blue set! Just how unique? You'll have to wait to find out! Here are the trainers presented in this Blue set:

Trixie
Gender: Female
Owner of a Pokémon Circus
Specialty: Water-Type Pokémon and Attacks ({W} in TCG)
Game Debut: Not In The Games
Anime Debut: Episode 155, "Love, Totodile Style" (season 3)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Trixie has made only one appearance
Interesting Tidbit: In the anime, where Trixie originates, Trixie's Azumarill shunned Ash's Totodile in favor of Trixie's Golduck. Not all that surprising, since Brock trained Totodile in trying to woo the ladies.

Milane
Gender: Female
Pokémon Trainer
Specialty: Grass-Type Pokémon and Attacks ({G} in TCG)
Game Debut: Not In The Games
Anime Debut: Not In The Anime
Interesting Tidbit: Milane is one of five CaC-created trainers commonly used here at the Pokégym. This is the first time that Electra and Milane are not in the same set together.

Eusine
Gender: Male
Seeker of Suicune
Specialty: Psychic-Type Pokémon and Attacks ({P} in TCG)
Game Debut: Crystal
Anime Debut: Episode 229, "For Ho-Oh The Bells Toll" (season 5)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Eusine has made only one appearance
Interesting Tidbit: Eusine's doesn't even have his signature Pokémon from the anime, Alakazam, in the Crystal version of the Pokémon game, where Eusine originates. It's unknown if Eusine has any connection with a Raikou-chaser from the Raikou special (Chronicles 1-3, "The Legend of Thunder") named Eugene who also has an Alakazam.

Harrison
Gender: Male
Pokémon Trainer, Top 4 At Johto League
Specialty: Varieties of Pokémon and Attacks
Game Debut: Not In The Games
Anime Debut: Episode 267, "Pop Goes The Sneasel" (season 6)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Episode 274, "Johto Photo Finish" (season 6)
Interesting Tidbit: Prof. Oak upgraded Ash's Pokédex to version 4 in the anime when version 3 couldn't read any data on Harrison's signature Pokémon, Blaziken. Ash didn't have that upgrade long, as he got a version 5 Pokédex before leaving for Harrison's homeland of Hoenn.

Tyson
Gender: Male
Pokémon Trainer, Hoenn League Tournament Champion, Amateur Resturaunt Critic
Not To Be Confused With A Member Of Team Rocket
Specialty: Varieties of Pokémon and Attacks
Game Debut: Not In The Games
Anime Debut: Episode 402, "Like a Meowth to a Flame" (season 8)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Episode 408, "At the End of the Fray" (season 8)
Interesting Tidbit: Tyson's signature Pokémon, Meowth, is a spoof of a spoof. Tyson's Meowth is a spoof of Puss-in-Boots from "Shrek 2", which is itself a spoof of the legendary comic figure Zorro. Guess the Japanese have an eye for American cinema, right? (Note that there's a Tyson's Meowth in this set but no Tyson's Persian. Additionally, Tyson's Meowth is a Rare. That's because Tyson's Meowth in the anime is more powerful but pretty much unable to evolve, and that quality is carrying over to its CaC debut.)

Robert
Gender: Male
Pokémon Coordinator, Hoenn Grand Festival Champion
Specialty: Varieties of Pokémon and Attacks
Game Debut: Not In The Games
Anime Debut: Episode 311, "Win, Lose, or Drew!" (season 6)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Episode 400, "Rhapsody in Drew" (season 8)
Interesting Tidbit: Robert hasn't appeared in as many episodes of the Pokémon anime as Drew or Harley have, but his skill as a Pokémon coordinator is not to be doubted. Some would say he has no business being here. Actually, of the anime-origin trainers, Robert's been in more episodes than many of the others, although he's never been a spotlight trainer. Despite the rather short screentime, though, Ash's Glalie might not have mastered Ice Beam had Robert not consoled Snorunt prior to it evolving into Glalie and gave Ash advice.

If you're having trouble figuring out who evolves from what, take a look at a fourth-generation evolution guide I cooked up and put into this recycled thread. It will tell you just how the Pokémon line up in the fourth generation, who evolves from what, and even the Pokémon's DS types to help you figure Weakness and Resistance!

Cardmaking for this set is finished. All cards are done.
