I've been thinking of a good topic for the RTC, and here it is! As the title says, lets discuss the bad presents/gifts that we have received for holidays, birthdays, achievements, etc. :biggrin:

I guess the information shared can be useful to judge what not to give for the upcoming holiday.

i gave my friend 20 bucks for his birthday, then come my birthday, dec 18, (1 week before christmas) he decides to give me my christmas and birthday present at the same time, you want to know what he got me?

2 CARTONS OF EGG NOG THAT COST 2.50 EACH!
me and my friends pretty much give eachother 20 bucks on birthday and $10 worth of stuff on christmas and he gave me 5 bucks worth of egg nog that my family enjoyed more than i did.

me and my friends joked for a long while that for his birthday i should give him 2 cartons of milk and his gameinformer back that i had been borrowing!
lol

Toys.

They are all childish. If someone give me toys, i give them the same item next xmas... :p

Hehe, eggnog as a gift! That is rediculous. I wouldn't even know what to say if that happened to me :lol:

Well, I hate getting clothing in general for presents.
Me too, I'd rather pick my own stuff out and not have it wasted as gift :tongue:

I asked for a few cards for my b-day. All of them were chewed up by a dog.
Eww...

ummm a gift is a gift. be grateful you got one?
Sometimes that is hard to do

Hehe. I would have just sold it or dumped it into one of those Toys For Tots bins at all of the stores as a donation. :lol:

I think I have one of the weirdest takes on gifts.

I'd rather just have your company.

When my birthday and Christmas rolls around, I always feel bad. I feel bad because people I care about have to take money out of their own pocket to buy me stuff. They don't get paid anything extra on those events, and they are taking money away from bills and expenses so that I can get something I probably don't need.

I also fear that someone will get me a gift that I really don't like or that I already have, and I have to fake my impression of it. Or worse, I have to tell them the truth and ruin their enjoyment. To me, I'd rather not receive anything and everyone be happy than receive a gift that I already have and ruin the feeling of receiving a good gift and ruin the gift giver's enjoyment of giving it to me.

So many people give money because they can't think of anything better. I do wish they would try a little harder. And some people think of themselves when they get gifts for their loved ones and that just doesn't cut it in my book. The gift is for them, and they should consider what that person might want or could use before rushing out and getting the first thing that pops out to them.

But to add to the conversation, the best gift I ever received was life, can I say that? I appreciate the gift and use it everyday? LOL, no? Okay, the best gift I ever received was a watch given to me last christmas from my mom. I don't leave the house without it, and I absolutely adore it.

The worst gift? Probably those model cars that come in the plastic containers that are designed after the cars from previous years. I absolutely hate those. I was given them from someone who really didn't even try to figure out what I would like and just picked out the first thing they saw showcased at their local store.

One time my aunt gave me a model car of some muscle car that I had never heard of. I was little and didn't care about it. I just wanted to play with the car, bu it was on a stand (I can't remember if I ever removed it from the stand since it was probably screwed to it) I guess model cards make a bad gift lol. Maybe it is just the old ones. I wouldn't mind having a model of a new sports car like a Lamborghini or something. Hint: people of youth don't like old car models :lol:

An attractive watch is a good gift. I love quality watches, and most men do

Well it wasn't me, but this rich begfriend kid basically took a leftover toy truck that someone gave to him earlier and gave it to my friend for his birthday.

Then for the rich kid's birthday, we got EIGHT people to pitch like $5 for a game as kind of revenge, and he had the balls to complain. A game still beats a leftover toy truck.

Omar is soo right. Seriously, some people can't even afford to buy gifts for loved ones. I hate getting gifts, but I'm always grateful to get one. People who are ungrateful to even recieve something should give them to charity or something...at least make good use of it.

One of my family members once got me a doll for my 19th birthday.
I never liked dolls at all. I think they forgot how old I was too.
Then when I started driving people were like she can drive? --;
And I didn't get my license until After I was 18 --;

If someone got me something, I would be happy. It isn't the gift that's important, it's the fact that someone thought enough of me to get me something. THAT is what is important =/.

but there's no "thought" in giving someone a leftover toy truck to get into their party. This was middle school and it wasnt even me who got the gift and I still feel disgusted at the kid lol

A doll made out of rope from my grandma last year. Doesn't stand up so you can't pose it somewhere in your room, which you wouldn't want to because it's ugly, and it came in the box from the gift shop she bought it at.

..Yeah, that tops the list so far.
