So ive decided to use a magmortar deck for citys ive got a pretty solid list it sets up really fast and flows really well the only thing im worried about is that it doesnt do enough damage heres the list

4-3-1 Magmortar
2-1-2 Typhlosion
2-2 delcatty

Roseannes Research x3
Castaway x3
TVR x3
Celios Network x3
Buffer piece x3
Rare candy x3
Windstorm x3
TDS x2
Warp point x2
Great ball x2

DRE x3
fire energy x13

the strat of the deck is to attack with magmortar and use delcatty for draw power it combos with typhlosions firestarter perfectly so I charge up another magmortor on my bench so when the active one gets knocked out theres a nother ready to go. im using buffer piece and castawy because it combos well with magmortars flame body poke body. its will be really hard to knock him out. ive also decided to use typhlosion over blazekin, even though magmortar and blazekin have sniping ability typhlosion is an over all beter choice.

Nice deck, i have a similar list with a couple different draw trainers but same concept. Dont really have any advice the list seems pretty solid. Good luck at cities

I also have a deck about the same as this one. The only things I can think of to change are:
2 magmortar X instead of 1. Regular magmortars dont really do enough damage to be worth it.
1 delcatty EX. You will probably never use it but if you can fit it in it is good against decks that make you discard alot and it goes well with magmortar X's attack
Scrambles instead of DRE: This one is really your choice. If you like DRE better than keep it but its something to think about.

yeah I like the idea about the scramble I never really use the DRE mainly because I dont wanna do -10 damage but I dont really like the idea of running 2 level x's in any deck thats why I have the TDS's in there to get back my level X in case it gets knocked out also the catt ex if I wont use it very often whats the point of having it right? it just take up space.

40 to the active and 20 to two benched pokemon isn't worth it? Math just exploded. You're going to want all 3 of the Magmortar SW. LV.X is really just a tech in this kinda deck, you don't have the right tools to make it a main hitter (no way to attach extra energy to active, for one thing)

Delcatty EX is more to help when a skitty gets stuck active and you can't attach an energy to retreat, I'd think. Upstream's a cool finisher late game as well, but not 'cause it is powered by Magmortar X's Flame Bluster. No. Wrong reason. The reason is that Magmortars have loads of energy on them, so when they die, you've got a lot of cards to shuffle back in. That, and you don't mind being able to shorten the hand size of the opponent (nice vs. Delta decks for instance)
Scrambles instead of DRE: This one is really your choice. If you like DRE better than keep it but its something to think about.
Agree here. Scramble's pretty nice in a Magmortar deck.

As for trainer line... I do like a blending of Roseanne's Research and Holon Mentor. Gives you an extra way to discard early fire energy, as well as ensuring you've got a sufficient bench early on (vital. Mid game you want Roseanne's, but early on, Mentor's the play)

I wonder how overkill 3 Rare Candy is... Could 2 copies happen to work decently in here? It seems to work rather well in my list, but then again, I've got a bigger Typholosion line (meaning I actually run a few Quilava).

can this deck work without the delcatty?

No catty is huge in this deck its the main source of draw power and it also puts energys in the discard so you can use firestarter. I took out the DRE's for scrambles and also I took out 1 roseanas research and one rare candy for an extra castawy and an extra celios it seems to have helped out the deck alot by giving it a faster and more consitant set up.

I have built something similar, just without the Delcatty line (too dangerous to run in my area's metagame). Instead, just lots of trainers and supporters to make sure I can always get out the right cards.

Pokemon (16):
4-3-1 Magmortar SW/X
3-2-3 Typhlosion MT

Trainers (32):
4x Celio's
4x Mr. Stone
4x Oak's Visit
3x Rare Candy
4x Roseanne
2x Scott
2x Switch
2x Wager
2x TSD
2x Warp Point
3x Windstorm

Energy (12):
9x Fire
3x DRE

You do not need Delcatty

My wifes deck runs just Magmoratrs and Typlosians, it it relentless, they just keep on coming. you KO one and she has annother all powered up to get you. You can get draw with TV reporter and the like, you do not have to have a delcatty taking up bench space.

You will need Delcatty. My friend didn't even know it existed, but I got my hands on a 1-1 line of it, and put it in his deck. Now he has a 2-2 and claims it is the engine of his deck. Most decks in my area are setup decks though. Even if Lucario and the like are popular, just make sure you leave it where it belongs. On the bench. Catty ex? I don't know. Maybe, because it is a good cleanup attacker, but if there is any fighting at all in your area, it's 90 HP won't be near enough.

40 ,20, 20 isnt all that great for three energies. you might as well play lucario and get 40 , 20 for two energies. Magmortar Lv X does 100 to anyone for 4 and you discard two which is not so good but you can attach energies to your active without having to worry about leaving you bench without energies because you have firestarter to power them up. I have never really needed three magmortar out at the same time. two has always been enough even when one is prized you just wait for the active one to get kncked out while you power up the magmar and then night maintenance and Celios for the magmortar and evolve.
Even if you dont think that magmortar lvX's attack is good his power and hp make up for it.

Energy Switch!

No seriously. All your energies are going to the bench but you can't "access" their potential until that pokémon attacks. Yes, switch is doing a similar thing but the surprise factor is huge. Energy switch gives you an instant +40 (iincluding the +20 from the normal energy drop) in a turn.

Just a thought, might want to try it.

[off]Do you have many Wifes?[/off] LOL!

But the list is good! May be 1-0-1 Blastoise d CG line to get rid off weakness? And plz, ppl don't know what Maggy you use, so put the "SW" to Maggy line and MT to Typhlo line, so ppl will know what you use!

you should take out the dre's because if you discard that then you still have to discard another energy
you should put a delcatty ex in because it can do a lot of damage for 1 energy
