Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pick Strength Charm or Pluspower

It seems that both Pluspower and Strength Charm have about the same effect (adding 10 more to an attack). However, strength charm says Poketool and Pluspower doesn't. Therefore I can search for Strength Charm with Castaway but I can't search for Pluspower. Is there any reason to choose Pluspower over Strength Charm, unless of course you've maxed out strength charm but still want more +10?

Strength charms can be got with castaway but you can only attach one at a time while pluspower is a regular trainer and u can stack them so you can use more than just 1 on a pokemon's attack so it all depends on what you like...

if youre already playing a different tool like buffer piece you want to be able to attach pluspower and buffer at the same time

Strength Charm will allow you to thin your deck if you play Castaway. There's no way to search for PlusPower unless you draw into them. Back in the good ol' days, when Haymaker was popular, if they see you have a lone basic Pokemon active, they'll exhaust their deck to find PlusPowers to KO the active =)

I'll break this down into simpler terms: (geeze, now I sound like my Algebra II teacher )

A deck with castaway and no pokepowers should tech a Strengh charm and play Cessation crystal as well as some Plus Power

A deck without any castaway should use plus power (so you can attach more than one at a time when necessary)

A deck with Castaway and no cessation crystals should play 1-2 Charm because the deck doesn't aim to keep a tool attached to the active. Additional plus powers may be added for extra support in the correct decks

These are just general standards to give you a basic understanding. Hope that helped.

Actually... Budew can do the job for you  It can thin for Rare Candys too :thumb:

But... its 40 Hp means [Insert Budew-Eater Pokemon name here] Food.. i hope a reprint of that attack with some more-hp pokemon (Like Stantler/Chinglin thing)

If you are ever in debate of choosing between pluspower and strength charm, always run 3/1. Because you can still attach them all, and the strength charm stays if at all necessary. If you run Castway in your deck, 2 strength charm is fine.

Yeah if <4 PPs, only 0/1 Charm, w/o Castaway, 1 is ok because you can still attach everything in 1 go if ever need be. Don't go 3/2 or any other combination with less PPs and more Charms w/o Castaway because 2 Charms in hand is useless when you need +20 etc.

>_>

You use pluspower over strength charm if you:

1. Want to attach a different tool at the same time
2. Want to do more than just +10 (you can drop multiple pluspowers to get up to +40)

Otherwise there is no reason to use pluspower.

You'll see decks with 0-2 strength charm, and pluspowers. Normally 1 or 2 strength charm with a few castaways is good to be fetchable, and then the player would have 2-4 pluspower because they can be used more easily alongside other tools or to stack up.

Oh, like CG Mawile?

On topic... one advantage to Strength Charm that no one has mentioned is that you can attach it to a benched Pokemon and it can stay for several turns, until that Pokemon attacks (or your opponent uses Electivire Lv.X or Windstorm..) if you use shuffle-draw trainers (Rowan, Wager, etc.)

Oh, like CG Mawile?

Same, 1 energy to do that... we want it free!!! The good thing about Mawile its it can take whatever trainer you want, since its a Pre DP card.

Be aware that some attacks punish the use of tools (I dont know... Donphan SW) so pluspower is more usable in this case.
