Mothim is AWESOME!

This little bugger (literally) has 80HP. Grass. Decent. Not Outstanding or Terribad. But this butterfly PACKS A huuge Punch.

Its first attack. Silver Wind. During your next turn. If an attack does damage to that pokemon. it does 40 more damage. Thats like FOUUR pluspowers. AND this guy has free retreat. So pretty mcuh. If you have like a Honchkrow or a Infernape in play. You could do 90 for FREE or 120 or 130 for a Dre discard. Thats AMAZING. But it gets even better! Its second attack for TWO Energy (1 Grass and 1 Colorless) can potentially do 70 damage. for TWO energy. Talk about fast damage right there. It can set your opponent off balance, and with a swarm of these. You'll be taking Prize cards faster than Machamp. being a flying bug. It carries a fighting resistance which helps a ton v. Lucario, Gallade, Machamp.

Can Mothim be the next big thing? Wait till States.

I agree. I love this card. But I haven't found the right combo yet or maybe it's supposed to run solo with a tech or two.

Let him joke and let's make a good conversation out of it.

I think 80HP is a bit of a downside to the card. Just like the Venomoth, 80HP is just low enough to be OHKO'd by the random Kricketune, Banette, etc. +10HP and it would be totally different.

You speak of using Mothim's first attack and then free retreating next turn to do even more damage with something that can do big damage. It's a decent idea, but it also gives the opponent one turn of non-defending (not taking any damage) and they can also retreat on their turn to remove the effect of Mothim.

Mothim's second attack could easily be abused if there was Rainbow Energy in the format. Drop a Rainbow, do 10 damage to yourself and start attacking for 70 on T2. It'd be better than Kricketune by far and probably better than Banette (as a stage 2 - not overall line). With it's already low HP, having damage on it to do decent damage is a downside. The mothim isn't going to survive that long after it starts doing 70 damage. But I could see someone walking right through an un-setup opponent with it T2 if T1 the opponent attacks it for 10 damage.

I like Mothim. He's pretty decent, but the lack of HP fails him the most I think.

FOUUR PLUSPOWERS!

Mthim is a good card, less hp but a great card. You do 70 damage with his second attack and if is necesary, use the first attack for add plus of a benched pokemon attack. I think that the pkmn perfect to the work is wormadam plant cloak. The 2 cards are the same type, evolves from burmy (with his restrictions) and wormadan can get 120 hp and confuse the defending pkmn. If you uses mothim first attack for plus wormadam attack, you do 100 damage and confuses the defendig pkmn, this is brutal. If you use this in pkmn with massive hp and a great retreat cost (torterra, most of the popullary ex, etc) you cause more troubles with this combo and you pick 1 or two prize card for sure. the retreat cost of wormadam (one energy) Lets repeat the combo while are neccesary.

It's worth the try! But like Prime saids it's lack of HP is the problem. Also remember thar Burmy is not bad, it's power might save you an energy.

This cards was 10/10 in the prerelese!!!

Mothim ... this is the card that's been sweeping those City tournaments in San Francisco lately, isn't it?

SAFARI TRUK has been revealed! But what's the engine?

I will say this. Mothim has one thing going for it, and it's how easy you can splash it into other Wormadam decks, espcially the grassy cloak one.

But it's kind of sad the entire line (include Wormadam) is weak to fire.

yes, the other problem is the weakness to fire. Fire down in popularity in my country thanks to gardevoir and blissey, but in usa i imagine that the popularity of fire decks is awesome

^Mothim is pretty decent, I'll tech in my Venamoth deck [/sarcasm]. Mothim has too low of an HO count for it to be worth using.

Would have to agree with you. I only seen him post Info but never giving advice.

Unown E could give it +10 HP but 90 is still too low for HP

Why should he give you advice? He posted a topic for discussion of a card, TRUK doesn't need to spoon feed you guys ideas.

I dont think Mothim is that good. It doesnt have a lot of HP. If they retreat. Silver Wind Goes away. But maybe you could use it with Skarmory Ex. To prevent Retreats.

Mothim reminds me of those tiny fast sports cars. The look like they would be really fun to drive but somehow just don't look like they would hold up in a real NASCAR or Indy race ... but you keep hoping that someone will prove you wrong.

ahaha

"Thats like FOUUR pluspowers"

This is my favorite thing ive heard someone say today.

Mothim is one of those cards where you first read it and are like, wow this is good. But then... oops, no he's trash (harharhar).
