Best Starter for Kingdra?

I run a Kingdra ex d deck and would like to find a better starter than the now deceased Holon's Castform. Absol wouldn't work because I need to set up better, not disrupt my opponent.

I was thinking about Corsola SW. It is weak to grass which isn't a big deal because Kricketune sucks now. The attack is Mentor-like and gets around Absol. The only drawback is having to get 3 different kinds of basics. I have 2 different types of Horsea and Spearow besides Corsola so it isn't a big drawback. And I would easily switch to Pachisiru once GE comes out. So, do you guys think that this might work?

Pinsir or Corsola. Corsola can grab two different types of Horsea, and a Spearow to start seaching.

Stantler = Get Holon Mentor, Celio's Network, Drawing Cards

Corsola = Get 1 Horsea, 1 spearow, and 1 corsola

Pinser = Get 1 d Pokemon

Set up Wise i believe Stantler is better until Pachirisu (GE) comes out

Corsola would do exactly what Pacharisu would do, you just need the HP Horsea in here to be able to get it out. Stantler burns away your supporters, whereas using Corsola/Pinsir to get pokemon THEN using a supporter to supplement that works better.

Actually you are forgetting something rather important, Stanler gets you a supporter, witch you use on your next turn, most likely you already had another supporter card in your hand, and you can only play one. Corsola (better than Pinsir, for me) will let use the supporters you may have and get you your basic Pokemon, it also prevents your search from being shuffled/discarded with Umbreon Star/Honcrow/Mars/Wager.

Corsola can get 2 different types of horsea and a Spearow. And putting cards into your hand can make you very vulnerable to Absol.

Putting cards in hand is risky vs Absol ... but not every deck runs it and and Absol is weak to your fighting. Horsea w/ 1 nrg for 30 to Absol then Seadra w/ 2 for the KO. I've tested plenty of Absol vs Kingdra and Absol doesn't like it much.

I still feel that Pinsir d is the best starter for the deck. Corsola is nice but after you fill your bench what can she do? Nothing really. Pinsir on the other hand is potentially useful as long as you have him up and his body makes him more durable than most of the other options mentioned.

Metagame would be the deciding factor for me. Lots of Absol and Magmortar ... then maybe Corsola ... otherwise Pinsir d.

Pinsir BY FAR without a doubt. The best thing you can do in a Kingdra deck is just swarm with Kindras, and Pinsir does exactly that. He is a direct outlet to Fearow, who is the backbone of your deck. That makes Pinsir the quickest starter for this deck, and trust me... in this deck, speed is something you NEED to take advantage of if available. Also, Ive actually sent him active in a few key situations to absorb some damage when they have more than 5 in hand. Castform is pretty bad right now as a starter... Pinsir is everything he used to be and more.

A 4-2 or 3-3 Furrett line could really speed things up in getting Kingdra Ex on the bench. It can make you vulnerable to Absol (depending on what you get out of your deck). If they don't play Absol you can pretty easily get a Kingrda up a turn by pulling a candy and the EX.
