So yeah, while we were talking about something at recess, I just felt like telling them.
They were like "LOL!".
I told them that I officially was the best player in Denmark right now, and i also was 5 in Europe and 23 in the world. (this was about 3 weeks ago btw)
They were like "Wow, really? Cooool!!".
I also told them about the trips to the US and all that, and some of them were like "Teach me!" xD

So, from them going from thinking that me playing Pokemon was "Zomgl0lzZz", (they were suspicious about me playing before, but i told that I didn't :x), they now think that it is reaaally cool.

Discuss.

People have always thought pokemon is for little kids....so sad that not many know the truth. The awsomeness that is pokemon. Those poor poor souls....perhaps now we will have some brothers join the order thanks to our brother ardoptres for spreading the Light. More will soon see the Light!! *laughs maniacly and is dragged away by men in white coats*

I'll try this once I get a higher rank. Which'll be never. But nice job anyway, nobody really knows the truth that Pokemon is for everyone.

I tell people who I want to be my friend that I play pokemon. If they make fun of me, they aren't worth my time or friendship.

I haven't played Pokemon in almost a year and a half (o god has it really been that long?) and i miss it so much. i just dont have the time right now. anyways, when i did play, i was so scared ppl would laugh at me and school would be like...well...u know. i finally got the courage to tell my best frend. he said "no way, so do i!". point is, if ur afraid of ur frends saying that u werent cool, y do u even play? some guys like play sports, others like to play video games. on pokegym, we like to play pokemon. if u really care that much about wat ur frends think, chances r u will end up on drugs becuz they say its the cool thing to do. i make my own choices: i dont let my frends make them for me.

Being embarased you play Pokemon and letting people tell you to do drugs are two completely different things. You obviously have no clue what you're talking about.

Sometimes it's not that you aren't comfortable telling your friends: I would definitely tell my friends, but sometimes your best friends cant keep anything a secret for the world, and some people just don't think it's cool or would even let you explain how cool it is. That's my current situation.

Here in America, I don't think saying that they can win trips to the US would be very convincing. You're lucky you still have recess at age 14. Regardless, congratulations man!

I'm 30 yrs old, so it's not quite the same for me as opposed to those in school. But i figure, who cares? I tell my Co-Workers i collect, and at times play Pokemon. No one has ever laughed or anything. But could be that they are Adults, and react differently.

I use use the Groudon CC bag for school i don't care. Many people know I play pokémon, and just today someone said to me "wow you really like pokémon" I was like "yeah duh?"

Many people at school play Magic The Gathering or other MMORPGs that I also play. So being that I also play pokémon isn't a big deal to them. There is also the animé fans at school who I love to hang around. Many people forget Pokémon is actually an animé despite the translation of the music and some wording (Movie 5 :( )

You'll note that it's generally only the higher-end, major-tournament-winning players that can get away with the, "Yeah, I play Pokémon, but look at what it gets me" angle. Everyone else simply gets it for playing a children's card game. Some of them really bring it on themselves, too. That's just how it is.

The reason it's more socially acceptable to play Magic than it is to play Pokémon is because less people give Magic a bad name.

Not to mention Magic was never really a kids game, whereas Pokemon pretty much markets towards the little kids.

Pokemon being a kid's name can actually work to your advantage. It's a game EVERYONE was involved with and loved. 95% of kids loved it or knew about it. It's a game that you can say "yeah, I still play and stuff" and you can actually TALK about the game and have people understand.

Most people know nothing about Magic, or other games like that. EVERYONE knows about pokemon, and since so many played you can easily bring them into discussion.

Man, I didn't get recess past the age of ten. I wish I lived in Denmark. =(

Ahhh, but young Wooper, their concept of "recess" is much different than ours! In the United States, "recess" is fun and games. In Denmark, "recess" is the time in between attacks against the Jyllands-Posten. :X

Just kidding, dawg. I respect Denmarkers for fighting the good fight against radical censorship. : D

But anyways, it's amazing how people are increasingly more willing to accept this game. My brother in particular has adapted quite well, and most people who know he plays seem to take at least a little interest. Most of my former high school classmates get a huge kick out of it. Like Marril said, they think it's so cool that I actually get _stuff_ for playing what they perceive to be a kid game (although it's quite the opposite).

You don't get a single break during school? Wow. We get a 30 min recess, after 2 classes á 45 min.

(I count the time to eat something as recess too)
