Pokemon Holiday Gifts

Hi all! I bet other 'gym members have kids/friends with Pokemon on their wishlist so I thought that I would share some new things that I spied at KB Toys here in Columbus, OH on Friday. The clerk told us that it just arrived on Thursday and she had already had two different sets of grandparents come in and buy over $200 each in Pokemon.

There is a variety of board-type games (at least 3) that I had never seen and they were definitely new because they have Diamond and Pearl characters. The cutest by far is a marble catching game. Think of Hungry, Hungry Hippos but instead of hippos each player controls a Pokeball that catches Pokemon marbles. The marbles look to be the ones that come with the new figures. Another game was a card (not tcg) flipping game and I don't even remember the other. To go with the marble catching game or by itself for collectors is a boxed collection of 40 of the marbles. There are also smaller packs of the marbles that contain 8 marbles. Another game was basically Memory with Pokemon characters. And another looked like another version of Yahtzee.

There were lots of other fairly new items that I have seen elsewhere but it was still good to see more of it such as the figs, puzzles, and plush.

The best stuff though was all the new candy items near the checkout (think stocking stuffers)! There are pokeballs that have a figure inside and smarties-type candy that have Pokemon stamped on them for $3. Also, there were adorable marshmallow pops of Pikachu and Piplup. And finally, I saw a package of gummy pokeballs.

OK, I'm sure that images would be helpful to some people so I uploaded some. I am not a great photographer as you will see but the pics will give you an idea. And ignore the dates - we forgot to reset it when we changed batteries.

Pokeballs with candy and figure (the small fig came in the ball with the candy - the large fig is a current Jakks fig used for size comparison) http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa121/hduluard/100_2612.jpg

Marble Catch 'Em Game http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa121/hduluard/100_2619.jpg

Marble Collections (small pkgs have 8 marbles; large collection has 40 marbles and is a KB Toys exclusive) http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa121/hduluard/100_2617.jpg

Pokemon Projection Pen (My hubby found this at a game (non-video) store at the mall) http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa121/hduluard/100_2616.jpg

When I was a little kid, I rember getting Pokemon Monopoly, two different PokeBall shaped playing card decks, Pokemon Memory, and assorted puzzles. Looks like all of this is comming back for the next generation of Poke fans!

Mew, I completely remember those pokeball playing cards! And those plastic see-through Pokeballs with a pokemon plush in it, I loved those as a kid. I'm so happy pokemon merchandise is finally making a comeback

lol, I still have a copy of Pokemon Monopoly lying around...

We bought two Pokeballs that night for good report cards - a Dive Ball and a Safari Ball, I think, and one had a Piplup and the other a Pikachu. I think the figs are very cute. They are smaller than the Jakks one but for $3 you get a cute fig, a 'working' Pokeball, and some candy. What a deal!

Where can I buy this stuff?
Probably a department store like K-Mart/Walmart/Target, or a toy store like K-B Toys/Toys *R* Us. I think she said she spotted the merchandise at a K-B Toys. Don't know what type of stores you have in your area though.

I have only spotted the candy and these games at KB Toys at this moment but I'm not sure if either of them were marked exclusive. I'm sure that they are online somewhere as well. Target and Toys R Us (at least in my area) both have a selection of toys and cards some of which are exclusive to eash store. I will post some pics in a few hours for those that are interested after my Pokeboys head off to school.

They don't looks as good as the Emerald wave of figure but none the less coolio!
The Emerald wave was the best thopugh, pikachu,wy-nut,Blazakien,Mudkipz,Sceptile,Skitty.lol
There not exscluisve as I usally fine them in european stores such as tesco and toy retailers.

I was back at the mall today and went to KB Toys to get a few of the Pokeballs for some little Pokefriends but they were all sold out. :frown: They did have TFG Groundbreakers starter sets though! And I took a closer look at the new games. In addition to the Marble Catch 'Em, there was a memory type game, a Yahtzee type game, and some sort of flip game that involves a pokeball paddle.

The store also had an 'exclusive' box set of Jakks figs. It seems that many stores are getting their own exclusives. TRU has the very large Palkia and Dialga figures. Target has exclusive box sets and trainers. And now KB Toys. Has anyone spotted other exclusives?

Also, on eBay I have seen some Diamond and Pearl bedding (sheet sets and comforters). Has anyone found these at a store? I would love to know where to search as I have struck out.

i talked to a rep from DK Publishing at san diego comic-con this summer who said they'd be publishing pokemon books soon. i finally saw the first one and bought it when i was at kinokuniya books in little tokyo. amazon has it here.

i also found the tail end of a bolt of pokemon-print (several different poses of pikachu, and the pokemon logo) fleece at my joann's fabric last week. my only quarrel with it is that pika's cheeks are on the same 'plate' as the background as obviously the first version of this fabric had a red background. mine has a blue one, so pika has blue cheeks and looks like a cross between a pikachu and a minun :(

'Mom - yes, I ordered the book from Overstock last week after my son spotted it at our local Target and put it on his wishlist. I too have the fleece fabric both in red and blue. The Pikachu's cheeks are blue on my fabric as well with the blue background. The kids still love the hats that I made and I'm working on some shirts. Family Fun Magazine had a fleece blanket idea a few issues back that I was thinking of using for some Pokemon blankets - http://jas.familyfun.go.com/arts-and-crafts?page=CraftDisplay&craftid=11813.

Did everyone see today's Target ad?!?!? Huge stuffed Palkia and Dialga! (Here's a link to the Target ad http://weeklyad.target.com/target/d...ad&storeid=2565106&rapid=489522&pagenumber=20) My hubby actually got up from the breakfast table and ran to Target before church and today's Cities to make sure we had some. What a dad! They are nice. They are $25 but a similar import would be $40 or more without a doubt. I'm not a great judge but I'd say they are 18-20 inches tall. The Lv X tins are on sale for $12 as well this week.
