ENERGY 17

2 Fighting

4 Boost

This is the “Soft Balls” deck that has been referenced in some of the North Texas and Oklahoma reports. The deck itself is a really great deck and it sets up fast. My overall Cities Win/ Loss were : 4-2 Top 4 Cut, 6-1 Garland Cities Win, 2-2 Ada Bad Day, 3-2 Sherman. So 17 wins (2 top Cuts) and 7 losses. So about 70% overall… not bad me thinks!

The idea Start of the Deck is a Sableye with a Fire Energy, Chansey if first, great/ Chansey if second, and some of the trainer engine to thin the deck a bit! If you can get a Birch in hand, that is a bonus do to thinning out your hand quickly!

Against Gardy, this deck gives it a heckuva matchup. Whereas many may think it is an autoloss, it really does hang in there well with it do to not being able to Telepass much and your opponent can only Birch/ TVR so many times before their hand is either to large or they can not afford to discard anything. So the Supporter is key as to when and how to play them. This isn’t a deck for newer players as getting the timing down are critical on every play.

Some of the losses were based on poor prizes. With so few Pokemon in here, having 2 prized can dramatically change the flow, especially if they are Chanseys. In 2 losses particularly, 3 Chansey were prized which changed the flow of the game and created a poor situation for a positive outcome. But I always play with the motto, Finish the game and make them earn it. It teaches you how to utilize the engine better and gives you the chance to improve timing and strategy skills.

Some people go into great detail as why and how on each card, but this is really a timing style deck that takes practice and Patience. Using Excavate from Sableye can setup which trainer to use and when. If you Excavate and see a Pokemon, you might Pokedex and see the second card knowing you have a Dusk Ball in your hand… or you can Pokenav, see the next 2 cards then Master Ball if one of the 3 were energy. There are several ways to go about this, and thus why I say it is a timing style deck for Advanced style players that have a firm grasp of combination cards.

Several of my friends encouraged me not to post this list, but I felt as if it would be nice to show that even the smallest of trainer card can work. Some might say Quick Ball works well in here, but too many time I ran into a situation where Sableye was being left in the deck to help with not decking. A GREAT PLAYER here in Fort Worth dubbed this the “Fishing Engine” for 2 reasons. One, you are fishing for cards with no guarantee of the outcome, but secondly cuz my last name is Fish!

I hope you enjoy reading this and feel free to make suggestions or try it out and let us know what worked for you!! Most of all.. Have FUN!! SOTG!!

fishing engine?

wheres your old rod?

any ways it looks cool. i agree that that CG sable is better since it sets up for master ball and gets energies in the discard for blissey and its attack can lock down your opponent

however SW Sable eye does have its rumage to get your engine going so running possible 2 of each will be very useful

over all looks very good. 9/10

can you look at Happy Family in my sig

Very creative way to sabotage Telepass! Simply not playing supporters is also potentially a great method for handling Ampharos SW's Jamming.

How does 4 great ball work out?
After several attempts, 4 Great Ball is less than Great. WIth so much thinning going on, PokeNav, Pokedex adn the other balls, it works well. However, it was a thought earlier on but sacked a Great ball for a Battle Frontier... was still consistent and added the lock for some decks! Thanks for the reply!

i think the newer sableye is better to play in this deck

You might think that do to so many trainers, but Disable is the boss in here for a starter. locking up the Baleful wind, Lead, and other search ability attacks (some energyless) is critical early on! I do like the New Sableye for some deck... mainly fossil decks, but the -30 Resistance and no weakness for this deck is just to nice! Blissey decks have to make sure they run FF and Fighting nrg and be able to get it, but thay will only hit with that Blissey once as Sableye Disables the only attack!

I appreciate it... Old Rod is too flippy, but I see the humor :thumb:. Will take a gander later on at your deck and give you some input!

Thanks!! This is what I played at Garland and yeah, the Trainer Engine is multi tasked in here. with Ampharos stacking nrg, Gardevoir stealing your Suporters, and Electivire stacking damage whne attaching nrg it is nice to Excavate the nrg into the discard and still get it with Blissey. Removes the irrtant of that 20! Thanks and missed you guys in Sherman!

where is quick ball it makes dusk and master have a back up when they dont produce pokemon

If you can find the room, go for it nad let me know how you like it! Quick Ball is a guarantee Pokemon, I understand that, but if you don't tag the one you want, it could be bad! Dusk Ball has more synergy with Pokedex and Master Ball with Poke Nav. As I stated, with Nav take the nrg and then Masterball. Dex take the other card and Dusk Ball the placed pokemon. It works well!

and I thought you posted decks here so you would have a free style data base . Remember telling me about that.

Exactly... making a decklist and posting it allows others to test it out, but gives you a reference in the future if you tear it apart! It is a free database of sorts, but Pokemon is about the sharing and helping one another be the best we can!! Not every deck works for everyone, but some may be able to take this and do well!

1:3 chance that you will get a Pokemon you want or need i'd take it

If you are referring to the Quick, true on the odds, but odds don't take in the additional combos in the deck. I tried the QB and whereas it was nice to get something, to often it was the wrong thing. Adding that one extra card in your hand hurts the Birch. If the Master/ Dusk Fail, then it is one more card to draw with Birch where Quick Ball is 1 for 1 so no hand reduction. THanks though!!

You need four plus power in here, and why not cessation in here instead of Battle Frontier.

Excavate is too critical to shut it down with cessation. The setup for your next turn or dumping a needed energy in the discard is critical. 4 PP would be nice, but the space a limited... what would you do for them??

Keep em coming!! Great Conversation in here!!

Just IMHO but Cess is far better than Battle Frontier here. Excavate is nice ... but shutting down Gardevoir or other kinds of Poke-Powers/Bodies that BF doesn't can win games.

BTW ... I *love* the trainer engine. I had been working on something somewhat similar myself, but I really like the way yours looks.

the list looks great.
the only thing i can see me adding would be windstorm.
its a 1 for 0 and it gets rid of cess so you can use excavate all game.
cess isnt used as much as it was before, but it is still used.
so ya,try windstorm if you'd like.
id suggest 3-4.
if your guna run 4,id suggest taking out 1 pp,1 sc and the 2 BF.
if your guna run 3 try taking out 2 BF and 1 sc.

MaThS! mAtHs! MaThS! mAtHs! MaThS! mAtHs! MaThS! mAtHs!

i think the newer sableye is better to play in this deck

Little maths to show efficency...

22 cards it accepts out of a deck of 58 (because Sableye and an energy are used and the rest of the hand is ignored).

Chance you hit a trainer on top with the first card: 11/29 chance you don't: 18/29
Now, if you revealed a trainer, the deck is one less as are the trainer count: 21/57 otherwise 22/57

This carries on for all 5 cards, it's similar to working out lottery odds.

So when I programmed this into my computer in BASIC...

Code:
10 print "Magic Umbreon's Sableye SW Efficency Tester"
20 input "How many trainers in the deck? " o
30 let w = 0
40 input "Repeat for? " a
50 for n=1 to a+1
60 let d = 58
70 let t = o
80 for q=1 to 5
90 let r = int(ran(d))
100 if r < t then
110 let t = t-1
120 let w = w + 1
130 endif
140 next q
150 next n
160 let x = w/a
170 print "An average of ", x, " trainers revealed"

where a=100000 (so it looks at the top 5 of a deck then reshuffles 100000 times) it gave x=1.84

So in conclusion,

For a deck with 22 trainers, Sableye SW gives an average of 1.84 with its attack.

IMO, this isn't very good.

I could go on to produce a graph of trainer count against average trainers revealed but whatever. Maybe it would be more useful for dark/master ball?

It's nice to see someone else who realizes how powerfull Birch can be in the right deck.

I love the trainer line. Nice deck.

Having played against this list (MrMeches) in TOP 4, I can tell you it runs smoothly the way it is! One reason is: I lost....

I like this type of critical thinking. So how many of your different decks can run off "The Fishing Engine"?

stevens gives better return just do that birch has set amount left but stevens usually gives 4 to 6 cards
