Which Starter to play in Gardilade/G&G

I've seen it played with Absol SW by some top flight players. Discard supporters then use them with Telepass.

Again, if you have to go with a starter, it is best with Absol (weaken opponent's set up then take advantage of their discarded supporters via Gardevoir's power). I suppose Stantler is far more consistent, as it allows you to use supporters no matter what (and you know you're going to get the supporter you want), and it actually packs a decent attack once it's done collecting cards for you...

Iono, I've yet to see any Gardevoir/Gallade/Absol in our area, but the combo seems solid (Except for me... I can't build an engine to save my life). On the other hand, Gardevoir/Gallade/Stantler is consistently top cutting over here. Fairly obvious which one I'm going to say demonstrates that it works well...

BUDEW however is a bad starter for Gardevoir/Gallade. It packs no secondary attack, meaning all it will do is fetch trainer cards (admittedly, quite useful, but unlike Stantler it packs no back up move against other set up pokemon). It also has 40 HP, which is snipe-able by rather stupid tricks such as Empoleon's Ice Blade. It also gives a really LOW HP value on the table for Bring Down (VERY bad, as then you'll have to Scoop it up, or lose a prize. BAD). Trainer cards such as Rare Candy are almost vital, yes. But 4 copies of them, plus a good draw power engine... Do you really need much more? Budew just feels too dangerous... Especially if you go first (I get a card with Budew, my opponent rare candies into almost every stage 2 AND Stage 1, DREs, game. :[)

Sentret/Furrett is a possible choice in Gallade/Gardevoir. If you aren't staring down an Absol a Furrett just about guarantees a Gallade or Gardevoir by T3, if not both.

Love Furret, especially in Stage 2 decks... Problem with it? Yes, Dark Wing Duck eats you alive, but you also have to get the stage 1 Furret active. Waiting for Furret can clog you up a bit... Especially when you are capable of just running trainer cards to fly through your deck quickly.

Just my thoughts here. Mostly coming from a friend who went 0-2 and almost dropped on Sunday, using the Furret as an engine (a messy Garde line mighta had something to do with it too, but...)

Corsola!

Fire Ralts, Psychic Ralts, something completely random (Minun?)... Hm. Well... Magmortar does well with this thing. :// I wouldn't think that Gallade needs it as much, due to how you only need perhaps 1 Garde and 1 Gallade out to deal critical damage.
Would rather have Absol (to mess up the opponent) or Stantler (to do more then just look for basics), but if it works... :/ I mean, if you're that scared of Absol, play something like Mew SW (Psychic Balence, WHOA) D=

Furret is a VERY good starter in here, if you can get it out T2, which isn't that hard if you have the right build.

@ Topic: Dennis, talk on MSN.

Poeple are suggesting Absol, but that's a whole different deck and strategy than what we've been playing so far. Anyways, talk to you on msn.

Ardoptres, using Absol is actually very similar to using Stantler IMHO. You still set up in largely the same way using either one ... i.e. you want Absol / Stantler active while you build your bench. With Stantler you are looking for speed and consistancy in your setup & you can usually get it. With Absol your trainer engine has to carry your setup & it's frequenly a bit slower ... but Absol slows down your opponent's setup too & puts supporters in the discard for your Garde to use. Even if you don't kill their hand entirely you've essentially put roughly 50% more starters in their discard for you to use.
