Potential for a bigger, more legitimate game? (Part 2 finally done!)

Why is it weird that my son wants a different kind of reward than money/scholarships? He wants the prestige or honor of being named the best as any competitive player in anything would want. And I'm not singling you out, I was merely commenting on the idea of Pokeparents who's eyes light up...

Potential for a bigger, more legitimate game? (Part 2 finally done!)

I think the ratio of Junior to Masters does say something. And I, too, am a Pokedad who's son started playing when he was six. It started at home, then I went on line to find a League but we've gone to City (2x), State (2x) and Regionals (2x) thus far. Not counting all the Battle Roads and...

Potential for a bigger, more legitimate game? (Part 2 finally done!)

I just don't see the point of a separate "paid" tournament as a solution to growing the game. Sure, MTG has it's side tournaments but it isn't exactly busting down the doors of the mind space of John and Jane Public or their kids awareness. Pokemon shouldn't be about making money on the side...

    Why so few Kyurem?

I searched the forums but forgive me if I've overlooked the obvious. Does anyone have any idea why Kyurem are so rare/hard to find and thereby expensive? I figured it should/would be as plentiful as regular Zekrom/Reshiram since it's one of the trio of dragons but it's not. (Z/R...

Prime Challenge Boxes releasing November 15

I'm probably the wrong person in this discussion since Pokemon has never been an "investment" for me, it's a game. The colectible's market is always volatile, with a hundred a 1 things that drive prices up or down. But I think the upside to the game in general still outweighs a few ruffled...

Prime Challenge Boxes releasing November 15

True  I was thinking of Tyranitar. Sorry  Yes, TyRam is in full force in my area. ---------- Post added 11/01/2011 at 09:47 PM ---------- I don't get this, even precious metals prices fluctuate. Sometimes gold is up, sometimes gold is down. When a new vein of...

Prime Challenge Boxes releasing November 15

I think it's a good move. :thumb: Making them more accessible removes the very real cost barrier for more people to be able to participate at a higher level of competition. And I really think it depends on your area meta, I've never faced a TyRam deck. It's mostly ZPST and Reshiphlosian...

Prime Challenge Boxes releasing November 15

See, that's what I'm talking about. :thumb: NOW it's time to start celebrating. But I wonder why no official statement on the Official Pokemon Website? Sorry, I've worked in journalism, I like my sources to be verified. Plus we all know you can't believe everything you read on the internet...

Prime Challenge Boxes releasing November 15

Hey! This is great news and all, but could you please link to the source????? It looks official and all but I can't find it on the Pokemon official website (which is what it looks like) and I haven't seen it anywhere else. How do we know this isn't a good looking forgery? Source link...

Restoring skill to the Pokemon TCG

Yes, that was a terrible way to end the match. But, like another poster said, maybe it's not how many games are played but making sure they all do, in fact, play out. 30 minutes for the first 2 games and, if there is a tie, the final game tie breaker is 30 or 45 minutes. I think something...

Restoring skill to the Pokemon TCG

What's RPS? I've never heard of it but would be interested in hearing how you think it would help the first turn advantage.

Potential for a bigger, more legitimate game? (Part 2 finally done!)

Just watched your video again and I think the biggest issue would be trying to affect some real dialogue between Japan and players in the rest of the world. In a separate thread, I posted this which, I think, would really help: But the real problem is we don't know because they don't...

Potential for a bigger, more legitimate game? (Part 2 finally done!)

Doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. I have never understood why there are different theme decks. A theme deck should be a theme deck should be a theme deck. IF we even get the Zekrom Reshiram Battle EX theme decks, it will sadly probably not even be close to what they received.

Restoring skill to the Pokemon TCG

I don't know Ness, I whole heartedly agree with you about playing more games at tournaments. It's a fantastic idea that should be implemented right away. But I don't think it's the only way to restore skill to the game. I also agree with you in the sense that there is nothing we can do about...

Restoring skill to the Pokemon TCG

Good question. Maybe players in Japan want to crush their opponents quickly and get back on the Japanese version of Facebook? Maybe it's because players in Japan complained about games taking too long so they are favoring big, fast basics and the upcoming big Ex's. I don't know...
