I started playing Pokemon competitively in late 2009, officially walking away from the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG which I had gained a few accomplishments such as being a tournament organizer and winning a New England Regionals event. It was a challenge for me to get out of the Yu-Gi-Oh! mindset and embrace the Pokemon TCG, but my practice showed when I entered my first official Pokemon event and took first place (Maine State Championships in 2010).
