The PokeGym Standard Format Legal Card List: 2017-2018 Season

Wouldn't this Trainer Kit also be legal? Released way earlier this year, I wonder if it's just being overlooked? https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Sun_%26_Moon_Trainer_Kit:_Lycanroc_%26_Alolan_Raichu_(TCG)

No lcq at worlds this year?

As part of Worlds staff this past year, and responsible for the registration system used for the LCQ, I can tell you that it is a TREMENDOUS amount of effort for staff to put on this event for the entire day...for the net result of letting what, no more than 24 additional players (8 per...

    Uncertainty about cards in hand

There's some interesting discussion on social media today about what is considered a "broken game state", and when the penalty of Game Loss should be invoked. Imagine these at a Tier 2 Regionals event. 1. The primary situation was a player accidentally played Colress as their second supporter...

What qualifies as "sufficiently randomizing" your deck?

We're losing perspective. We're not trying to randomize/shuffle a 6-deck shoe to deal 80 hands of blackjack! In the end, the challenge is to just randomize the next few cards drawn. I purport the randomness of the cut has the final influence.

What qualifies as "sufficiently randomizing" your deck?

Any further discussion of declumping itself should be a different thread. But be sure to read these previous threads (2011, 2012, 2013), and these rulings (2011, 2013), before you even bother. The point of me bringing it up is in the context of "sufficient randomization", and me pointing out...

What qualifies as "sufficiently randomizing" your deck?

Because players don't like the non-uniform distribution. Or superstition. Whatever the reason for declumping, in my opinion, the knowledge of the deck at that point is all the same.

What qualifies as "sufficiently randomizing" your deck?

I am not a Judge. But I am a Professor, League Owner, Tournament Organizer, Player, and perhaps most importantly a PokéDad of a competitive Senior. With those credentials, I would challenge you broaden your mind and truly consider what is "sufficient" mid-game. (And I know some people may...

Lose a match on time, due to permitted bathroom break?

This advice was just posted on another Web site: The Rules document does give this direction for a judge to use to determine a winner for an unresolved match: "If one player was late to the match or was away from the match without a judge's permission for any period of time during the round...

    World Shirts

Simple: the logistics may not merit the effort. T-shirts are just one small aspect of the entire weekend. By the time they got all the responses from everyone coming, there may not be enough time remaining to have them printed and shipped and quality assured and transported to the venue.

    World Shirts

Well, I wouldn't think they would print a unique shirt size just for you. You'd have to choose from the available options. Now, if running out of a particular size is a concern, I suppose you'd have to just be one of the first in line.

No scheduled lunch breaks at Worlds

I know it because I'm involved with the scheduling of events (along with other team leads for Worlds), and there is no allocated time for lunch breaks. We have permission to disseminate this information.

No scheduled lunch breaks at Worlds

FYI, since many of you wanted to know ahead of time, there will be no scheduled lunch breaks at Worlds. Either on Friday during the LCQ, or Saturday during the Main Events. There are concessions planned on site, but if you want to pack a lunch, etc...plan ahead.

Dear TPCi: Scrap the disaster that is 50+3!

Yet TPCi believes that Best of 3 Swiss is the correct choice. They believe they are improving the game with that tournament structure. If the attendance numbers meet their goals, and PTOs provide feedback that Best of 3 Swiss is okay, and events run according to schedule, then they will...

Dear TPCi: Scrap the disaster that is 50+3!

I disagree...they couldn't possibly worry about every single person that leaves! POP wants healthy attendance numbers for the events, and especially growth in the Junior/Senior demographic. If 2 new people join while 1 disgruntled person leaves, the net result is growth.

Dear TPCi: Scrap the disaster that is 50+3!

From the perspective of the program itself, if Organized Play believes they made the right decision instituting Best of 3 in Swiss, and people continued to show up and play this year (especially Master's paying for their own admission)...then really what other measureable metric matters than...

    Travel tips to Washington D.C.

This was posted on Facebook by a community member, re-posting here with permission... WORLDS & WASHINGTON DC GENERAL INFO THREAD: With all Nationals in the rearview mirror, players are turning their heads to worlds, which, luckily for me, is in my own backyard. I'm going to try and provide as...

    Constructive Feedback for US Nationals

I would like to make sure you know that opining over who will make cut, and who won't, is not a Judge's job. All any Staff should say is "usually X-2 or top 32, whichever is greater". It's up to the players to end up with a good enough record, relative to the other players. Was the...

    U.S. Nationals Side Event Schedule

FYI for anyone playing in the Championship Point Challenge tomorrow - the format will be Single Game Swiss 30+3, due to time constraints with the venue. (It was announced and signs are posted, just spreading the word here too...)

2015 Season TCG Regionals Day 2 will use Extended Format (BW-on)

Players often misuse the word "fair". (People do it in life too, when it suits them.) So let's list the ways it is fair: There's no promise that if you build a rogue deck, you have some kind of right to win the whole thing. In fact, the tournament rules were relaxed so that deck lists...
