I think it's an okay card I mean it's like a better version of minun except you have to eveolve. Of course the psy weakness makes it more vunerable in this format but it should stay on the bench. I plan on seeing this card in some GG decks so get your Pschic Lock ready.
6/10 is my rating.
Slowking is a alright card, It has 80HP which is average, a Pidgeot like pokepower which is stackable, and a pretty medicore attack.
Combos with it would have to be a stage one. Like lucario. In which were it just spreads damage and then once that pokemon is killed you can use slowking to get out your lines. Then you can scramble etc the attacker and stuff .
The best and worst things about this is that it's power is stackable. Being able to go get any one card from your deck when something gets KO'd can win you a game, being able to get more than one is even better. The bad part is the rest of the card is sub par at best, so do you really want these clogging up your bench? 80 HP and +20 weakness to Psychic along with a pretty weak singular attack means you never want Slowking in your active spot. A retreat cost of 2 makes things even worse if this were to get pulled up from your bench. having it be an evolution doesn't make things any better as you can't simply Roseanne's for it like Plusle or Minun the turn after something gets KO'd. While it's power is great, I just don't see this card being that useful.
Darkwalker's right. It has a nice Power, but... Gardevoir OHKOs it. And Psychic Lock stops Trump Card. Having 2 on your Bench is not only a hassle to get out, but it clogges up space, and a simple Dusknoir tech kills it. Psych Up's terrible, especially since almost everthing OHKOs it. A lnoe Slowpoke start almost gives your opponent the win, 'cause one of the worst things about this card is that it has 2 Retreat. They could have made it half-decent and gave it only 1 Retreat, but oh, no, you have to waste 2 Energy attachements on it to Retreat for your Starter, if you have it out by Supporter usage or luck. Could be used as a tech in some decks like G&G to recover from bad starts (push up a Ralts, Trump Card a Gallade/Gardevoir, Candy, Scramble, boom). But I really don't think it has much potienal in this format, because why would you waste resources to get it out?
id rather use furret. i think its one of those cards were it has lots of potential but not enough to see usage in decks
Trump is a great power but your attack makes him bad 8/10
Slowking is a rather neat support Pokemon that gives you a benefit when your Pokemon are KOed. Statwise, Slowking has the old standby of 80 HP for a Stage 1, +20 Weakness to Psychic (anyone else still finding it odd that Psychic is weak to Psychic?), no Resistance, and 2 for a Retreat Cost. His Poke-Power, Trump Card, lets you get any card from your deck when a Pokemon of yours is KOed during your opponent's last turn (note that you have to activate Trump Card during your turn, and not immediately when the Pokemon is KOed). Trump Card provides great advantage in allowing you to perhaps get that one card you need to turn the game around. His sole attack, Psych Up, deals a basic 30 for a Psychic and Colorless Energy, but goes up to 60 damage if you use it again, making it an ok attack if you really need to use it. Overall though, it's best just to leave Slowking on the bench and to let him do his thing.
Modified - 7/10 (I think this has advantages as a good tech card, but being a Stage 1 hampers it a bit and it does fill up what might be crucial bench space later on)
Limited - 9/10 (His attack is better here, and Trump Card is increadibly useful in getting that 1 Supporter or evolution cardyou drafted and won't usually draw into)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No real use here, he's just dead bench weight and decks usually move along quickly enough)
It's an alright card. It's power is sort of like Persian DS's power. Like Darthwalker said, it IS stackable. It is a good card. Not GREAT and not BAD. Personally, I would rather use Claydol seeing that it is stackable too. Furret is also another great card instead of this.
ill give it a 7/10
It still needs testing.
This card is DECENT; not being good nor bad. Personally, other Pokemon can be used instead of this card, but its Poke-Power can be helpful. However, its attack brings its card score right down... However, this card still deserves a score of:
6.5/10 (Possibly 7 on a good day).
(Also, the comment of the Pokemon at the bottom of the card is quite humurous, saying that being bitten by a SHELLDER gave it the intelllegence of an award winning scientist. Haha! I wish I was bitten by a Shellder)....
i've seen this card work before some people used it at a states with magmorter, i lost to one of them, but lol, he didn't even get to use the power
the thing i hate about cards like these is that there's stuff like bringdown and torrid wave that all jyp you out of using it
Dies so easily to Blaziken, Gardevoir, and Gallade. Attack is too weak. The power is cool how it can be used up to 5 times, and it is stackable! But... if the opponent used Psychic Lock to KO your Pokemon, you can't even use the Pokepower :frown:. So don't rely on it!
One more problem, if you want to use it to take Potion, you'll have to die, and the whole objective in taking potion is so that you never die! So, Ledian d is better in that area.
psychic lock doesn't stop it
As almsot everyone else has said, its an OK, decent card. The fact is, even though it can help, there are still many more cards that are better. For what it does, its not worth clogging up your bench, when you should already have Claydol or Absol or some other tech. And if you have Claydol, you shouldn't need Slowking. Its power is fine, but in the current metagame, this card isn't very useful.
Psychic Lock turns off Poke-Powers for a turn. Trump Card is a Poke-Power, so it can't be used :thumb:.
And you get bitten on the tail
i don't even know why you would think i don't know what psychic lock does, maybe you should read the cards :thumb: it doesn't stop it
I actually know what you're thinking, and I think you should read Slowking's poke-power again.
you're right, and you were right about what i was thinking about, my bad, it definately does, stop it, sorry mew* i wasn't thinking properly, i was thinking it was one of those, "during you're opponents turn" powers,
but now that i read it more closely and think about it i also realise that bringdown, and placing damage DON'T stop it, which makes it pretty nice,
i'm going to be more harsh than most:
not enough hit points. it's power doesn't interest me much, as i'd rather just use a trainer (or better power) to get the cards that i need. a retreat of two is too much for this guy.
QUESTION ABOUT HIS ATTACK: on my third turn of attacking with psych up, does it still do 60, or does it reset every other time, and do 30, and then 60, and then 30, etc?
Separate names with a comma.
