1st!!! Again, in this day, First of all, whats up with all these new COTD? This is like the third one! This ANOTHER reprint of an HS card whoopee. Anyways, HP is great for stage 1, Attacks are bad, weakness is bad resist. is ok, and retreat is bad. Overall: 3/10

Ah, gyarados, how loved and hated. However, this one is NOT the gyarados you are looking for. This guy, a reprint of the one from HGSS and the trainer kit, has very vanilla attacks and stats. With a horrid three retreat cost, and a x2 weakness to lightning, it won't get far. Discarding an energy is always a bonus, though, since you can target rescue energy.

In limited, water is one of the most useful types, with most every player trying to throw in ninetales, and with donphan being such a viable choice. People are weary of running lightning, because of all the fighting types running around, paired with mareep's sad 40 hp.

Limited: 7/10
Unlimited: 2/10 (it doesn't end your turn at least)
Modified: 2/10 (it would be a tech in "the other gyarados" if only it ran energy)

Today's COTD is Gyarados from the Call of Legends expansion. Let's start with the basics: 130HP is huge for a Stage 1, Weakness is as bad as it gets, good resistance, and a bad retreat cost. Its first attack, Hydro Splash, is a better version of Lugia's. For :water::colorless::colorless:, you do a plain 50 damage. Still overpriced for the cost, but not by too much. Hyper Beam does a mere 80 damage for :water::water::colorless::colorless:, and you discard an energy attached to the Defending Pokemon. That means if you're facing Dialga G Lv. X with 4 Special Metals attached, you can wittle down its energy.

Modified: 7/10- If not for the discard, it would've only got a 5/10.
Limited: 9/10- Great HP, Weakness won't matter as much here, still a bad retreat cost, but energy discard is GREAT!

Hmm...Mr. Fish is running pretty late it would seem...

Anyways, our CotD from 2 days ago that's now posted is Gyarados from CL, another worthless holo. Statwise 130 HP is excellent for a Stage 2, x2 Weakness to :lightning: is horrible, -20 Resistance to :fighting: is nice, and :colorless::colorless::colorless: to Retreat is pricey. Hydro Splash is overpriced at :water::colorless::colorless: for 50, and Hyper Beam is as well at :water::water::colorless::colorless: for 80 and a discard of an Energy off the Defending. So yeah...:nonono:

Modified - 1/10 (No reason to run this...at all...over the other Gyarados)
Limited - 8/10 (Decent here, Stage 2 HP in a Stage 1 body and ok attacks)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here, just plain bad with its overpriced, ineffective attacks)
