The 2014 Arizona Pokémon State Championship is coming!!!

There will also be a Pokémon Arizona VG tournament (see details below)!!


Location:

Arizona Cultural Academy & College Prep (Event will be in the School Gym)
7810 S 42nd Pl. (off Baseline) Phoenix, AZ 85042

IMPORTANT: DO NOT Park in the street or at the Fire Department. Parking will be in the Lot next to the Gym. We will have signs posted.


Date: Saturday, March 8th, 2014

Time: ---->Registration begins at 8:00 AM (Registration ends at 9:15 AM). Player meeting begins at 9:30AM.

MASTERS/SENIORS:
50 minutes +3 (Best 2 out of 3 Swiss games).​
JUNIORS:​
30 minutes + 3 (Single game).​
ALL Top Cut Finals will be single elimination 2 out of 3 match play (75 minute time limit).​

The Main Tournament (Swiss rounds) can last 5 to 6 hours.You must be in the registration line with your decklist ready no later than 9:15AM or you may receive a first round loss or not be allowed to enter the event.
Don't be late!

Please arrive with your deck in the same order as your decklist.

Those players who show up with the attached decklist completed and their deck in the same order
will be entered into a SPECIAL RAFFLE SPECIAL for Sealed booster box of Pokemon XY!

Please read this before reserving your VIP package: I have ordered a limited supply of these playmats, once the 1st batch is sold out, I will open up another link for more playmats. However, I cannot guarantee the company who makes them can have the 2nd batch of playmats in my hands before March 8th. If the 2nd set does not arrive in time and you are from Arizona, I will get the playmat and pack to you at another event. If you are from another state/country, I can mail it to you and will collect a shipping charge and your address from you at the State Championships.

**If you registered and played in the TCG event earlier in the day, this League Challenge is FREE for you. All age divisions! All others, the entry fee is $5.00 cash or $5.25 Credit Card.
Registration starts: 2:30pm Registration Ends: 3pm - time subject to change

• You must have your own legal 60-card Modified deck.
• The number of Swiss Rounds will be determined by the number of players.
• 30 minutes round + 3. No top cut.

End of Registration: NOON

Cost: $2.00 for anyone who played in ANY events on Saturday March 8th at the State Championship location. If you are a member of the Desert Sky League this event is FREE for you!

Pokémon Video Game Tournament


Time: Registration begins at 5pm (Registration ends at 5:5pm).

Players must follow rules (see below). Players must have 4-6 Pokémon in their Battle Box ready to play. Each player must submit a team sheet (see Team Sheet, attached document).
You may only use your X or Y game! Bring your DS with X & Y game! (Charge your DS prior to the event)

IMPORTANT VG Players! This will be a 4 vs 4 DOUBLE battle tournament!

Cost: $10.00 Cash or $10.25 Credit Card Entry Fee

PRIZES:
For each Age Division:
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th place: Cash prizes to be determined by Attendance. The more players we have, the bigger the CASH PRIZES will be!!


Players must have 4-6 Pokémon in their Battle Box ready to play. Each player must submit a team sheet (please email for the sheet, they will also be available at the event).
Standard Format Team Rules:

Pokémon must be in a Kalos Pokedex.
Each held item must be unique.
Pokémon may not have the same national Pokedex number.
Pokémon must be native to Kalos (Indicated by a blue pentagon in the Pokémon Summary)

NOTE: Your Pokémon MUST meet all 4 of these requirements!

In Double Battles, each player selects four Pokémon from his or her party of six to battle with. At the start of the battle, players send out the first two Pokémon in their party, making a total of four Pokémon on the battlefield. Game play continues until a player makes all four of his or her opponent’s Pokémon faint.

Only Pokémon X and Pokémon Y Game Cards or downloadable versions are permitted for use.
Players may only use Pokémon from the Central Kalos Pokédex from #001 to #150, Coastal Kalos Pokédex from #001 to #153, or Mountain Kalos Pokédex from #001 to #147(you cannot use Yveltal, Xerneas, Zygarde, Mewtwo or Blaziken).
Pokémon must be placed in the Battle Box.
Pokémon are allowed to Mega Evolve.
Pokémon above Level 50 are permitted, but they are auto-leveled down to 50 for the duration of battle.
Players may use Pokémon with Hidden Abilities.
Players may use items that have been officially released via Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, the Pokémon Global Link, or an official event or promotion.

Cradilicious: Pokémon Center plushies, Japanese deck boxes, Pokémon children's size T-shirts and merchandise, World Championship items and selling singles.

Amazing Discoveries:Buying and Selling single cards (Tournament Legal ONLY-NXD to current), also buying Bulk commons & uncommons @ $4.00 Cash For 1000 Cards AND they must be mint and in a Card box.They will also offer a 25% trade over cash for any of the Tournament Legal Singles. They will not be buying any older cards. This is the ONLY vendor at the event who will be buying singles and bulk.

Is this from TPCi, or a decision from this tourney?

Don't all the players deserve the donk recovery that best 2/3 was instituted to address?

This was my decision as we were given the option. This decision was driven by the Junior players and others.
