I want to share this decks i built several time ago, still good and competitive at today. Even adapted into the new rules. Not for leagues or official tournaments, but versatile for fun game at homemade tournaments and casual matches with friends.
#1 Disrupt deck :water: / :grass:
Pokemon (15)
x4 squirtle
x3 wartortle
x4 staryu
x4 schyter
Trainer (28)
x4 plus power
x4 bill
x4 gust of wind
x4 energy removal
x1 super energy removal
x3 lass
x3 rocket sneack attack
x2 impostor professor oak
x1 professor oak
x1 computer search
x1 item finder
Energy (18)
x11 water energy
x6 grass energy
trainer To-consider:
nightly garbage run
Take control of your opponent`s hand, make him shuffle his/her trainers in deck, or discarding with impostor professor oak. Fast atack with staryu, dealing 20 damage (or 30 with PP) with 1:water: in a perfect first turn.
Mid and late game u have consistant 40 (or 50) damage with wartortle and 30 to 70 with schyter. i think Schyter is an outstanding card if u have an entire playset of them, because the free retreat and the sword dance (excellent in the case the opponent`s uses an attack wich prevents damage in your next turn, so u can still use dance sword and duplicate damage on your next turn). Te deck DONT have any discarding cost, so i dont put any recycling cards, and i put short ammount of energy cards for the same reason.
In adition, focus on energy removal and dont let your opponent atack.
In a perfect match u could take 2 prices only with a staryu (tested by me). This deck could defeat Rain Dance in 2 of 3 matches, And haymaker in 1 of 3 matches. (Haymaker put the thigs difficult with electabuzz for the weaknes and could take a staryu or squirtle on 1 atack).
#2 Dmg swap (my version) sychic: / :colorless:
Pokemon (18)
x4 abra
x2 kadaba
x3 alakazam
x4 chansey
x3 jigglypuff
x2 wigglytuff
Trainer (25)
x4 defender
x4 pokeball
x4 switch
x4 pokemon center
x3 gusp of wind
x3 bill
x1 professor oak
x1 computer search
x1 item finder
Energy (17)
x4 double colorless
x3 full heal energy
x10 psy
basically the same of the original Dmg swap but including the 60 damage atack with :colorless::colorless::colorless: . Chansey recives all dmg counter and defender blocks 20 from double edge. then i swap and i heal with pokemon center. This is a really solid deck, mostly unbeateable. play 12 basic pokemon is not the best number in a wiggly deck, but is good enough.
#3 Entei howl :fire: (base set neo, but oldschool anyway)
pokemon (14)
x4 entei (howl)
x4 charmander
x4 magmar
x1 charmeleon
x1 charizard
Trainer (24)
x4 pokemon trader
x4 pokedex
x3 computer search
x3 item finder
x3 energy retrieval
x2 scoop up
x2 professor elm
x1 blaine´s last resort
x1 super energy retrieval
x1 nightly garbage run
Energy (22)
x22 Fire energy
This is my favorite deck. I have been studying this deck for years and disrupting is the only way to stop it. This deck y really unbeteable. Te strategy is simple: Use howl to charge magmar, 30 dmg every turn or 50 while you get charizard for ending. If charizard or charmeleon are in prizes, coud be a problem on lategame but entei is ridiculusly powerful even in early. In fact, enemy would rarely handle the match in late game.
Use pokedex in order to use howl properly and item finder or NGR for recycling those card u may discard with entei. Pokemon trader to search entei as fastest as u can, and to get charmeleon and charizard. A single super energy removal and energy removal, to make a combo with professor elm to shuffle your energy cards in your discard pile again into your deck for use the howl again after a scoop up.
Entei deals 60 damage with only :fire::fire::fire: and u can actually atack then scoop up, then energy retrieval, then elm and if u get another entei use the howl again. Its a very consistant strategy.
#4 Turbo Machamp :fighting:
This is one of my best friend´s best decks for all-time, in earlys 2000 at school this deck was very overpowered, because the expedition cards were outstanding in those days. Also, in a local tournament here in 2014 i saw this deck win in flawless victory (0-6) vs a psy deck with mew EX.
Pokemon (16)
x4 machop
x4 machoke
x4 machamp
x4 tauros
Trainer (25)
x3 gust of wind
x4 energy removal
x1 super energy removal
x4 bill
x3 professor oak
x3 item finder
x4 pokeball
x2 town volunteers
x2 oracle
Energy (17)
x17 fighting energy
This deck seems to be strategy-less but at the contrary is VERY consistant. 4 machamps are really difficult to stop or atack if he plays 4 energy removal, 3 super energy removal PLUS 3 item finder to re-use energy removal. This deck combine disrupting, massive atack (60 damage with rampage, 60 damage with machamp and 50 damage with machoke) also, fast atack with 20 damage with 1:fighting: at early. ALso, this deck have ALL attacks with NON-DISCARDING energy. Pokeball could be better than CPU search, because no discarding and because pokemon are the most-needed cards to look for.
This deck defeat my entei deck in 2 of 3 matches because the energy removal, its ridiculusly annoying.
thats all, what do you think??
