Anywhere in the US. I'm not saying this can or will happen. I'm just would like to get a gauge on the availability of people who would be interested should it become a possibility. So all you professors who are looking for a chance to get Professor Points LMK. And all you current TO’s looking for more/better/different places to operate LMK.

for local events, esp NW Chicago Burbs, it's a very good idea if the WalMart wants to run it. I'm looking to either set up or revive a league location down in the University of Illinois. Currently there is a league at a local card shop, but I don't know how many ppl go to that league as the card shop doesn't post league numbers. If that store is still willing to run them, then I might think about there.

Generally, local card shops are the best places to run events. If no local card shops are willing to run events, WalMart and similar stores (Target, KMart, etc) are probably the next best choice. Some large colleges might also be willing to sponsor a league if it has some support from within the college. You never know...

For expansion of the game local card shops can't even come close to the amount of exposure that Wal-Marts can bring. Wal-Mart = new players

Y'all let me know. I can probably get our WalMart manager to throw in a good word or two to help things out. Keep in mind, we are in the McDonalds area. Your store will need a some type of food court, unless they plan on providing tables and chairs. Also check out the Sam's, they normally have alot of seating in the food court area. Good luck.

Come on all you professors who have been complaining about not being able to earn points. This is how you may be able to do it.

I would love to do something like this over the summer, but first I have to find out my work schedule. Right now, I don't even know where or if I'll be working....

Thank you for your responces. This is what I'm looking for. No specifics yet. Just in general would you be interested. Thanks.

Questions I asked Team Cook.
Team Cook's answers.

How much exposure would you say being in WalMart has given your league?
1. Tons of exposure due to all the foot traffic. With Mcdonlads in the front of the store, everyone walks by. Of course, playing in a Mcdonlads doesn't hurt either, lol.

Do you get new players as a result of being in WalMart?
2. This week alone, we've signed up 7 new players. We're up to almost 100 players.

Do you hand out flyers?
3. We don't hand out flyers. We do hang one up on the front bulletin board. Mcdonalds also will allow us to put a few flyers by the registers.

Do you hold Tourneys or just league? If so how often?
4. We hold league every week. Our normal night is Wednesday. This night seems to have worked well for us. We are trying something new this month. We have added Thursday nights and Saturday afternoons. We'll see how this works and decide what to do after our prerelease in May. We do hold small tournaments as well. We actually had the team Rocket Returns Prerelease in this Walmart. We had 83 players. WalMart had to move a bunch of racks around to fit us in. Now, it worked well for us, but our WalMart manager has said "no more". He said it worked well for them, but won't give a reason on why he won't hold more "big" tournaments.

Honestly, I feel lucky. The right spot at the right time. Now it's up to me to take advantage. Good luck, hope this helped.

I'm posting this to show what is possible. If we could do this across the country... WOW!
Thanks Team Cook

hey id be willin ons suday afternoons, the walmarts right across teh street from my work. so no prob at all!!!

Yes, it's a great idea, but I doubt it'll work on a large scale. If you know anything about wal-mart you know that they are not the community orginization they claim to be - they shroud themselves in the flag and talk about great they are and how "American" they are. But just wait and see how much resistence this idea meets.

FWIW, I you have my total support, and if there's any way I can help, I will.

Opinions are great, but you're not helping with such a negative post. However, it's great to see you jumping on board.

I'm actually not meeting resistance. In fact have gotten some encouraging news. Speak not of what you don't know!

Help? Yes, I’m looking for people who would be willing to do this. Would you be?

Wow. I couldn't have come across this post at any better time. I am a League Leader at a local card shop and I don't have that much of a reliable attandance. The league Owner and I have been talking about moving the League to Wal-Mart if they will let us. He thinks that Wal-mart will do more for the league attendance and he has convinced me to think the same. I went to Wal-Mart and asked to speak with the store manager, but he wasn't in, so I told them that I would come back another day. I have my thoughts on what I should say to him but I think it will sound like " Hey, can I run a Pokemon League here, please " and I would like to get any and as much info I can to make it sound more convincing that he should let me run the league there. Its the Klamath Falls Wal-Mart and they are in construction to make it a really big Supercenter Wal-Mart with an arcade and McDonalds as far as I know. Unfortunatly when the league moves to Wal-Mart the League Owner will stop the league at his store so I will just have the Wal-Mart league and all of the responsibilties will be passed down to me, which means I will not only be the League Leader I will also be the Tournament Organizer and the League Owner. Anyone in this position that can tell me what to expect would be highly appriciated.
Thanks for your 2 cents in advance.

this is the most random thing i ever heard but it would be cool to hold events at wal-mart i'll ask a leader if they will do that for me this is so random thanks for the idea

I would love to get some points for running a league and getting some points. Maybe suggesting a place in New York, NY. Please.

Wal-mart would be a great location to hold tournaments, especially if a Poke-tcg fan base already exists in the area but has no place to organzie tournaments. This is the case in my league, which I hold in a Public Library.
