Hello fellow PokeGym people! Despite the commonality of Donphan decks I thought I'd be unoriginal and post my own! FYI I haven't used it at my local league yet, just got the last few cards I needed recently. Any and all thoughts and suggestions are welcome. :)

Pokémon: 13
4-4 Donphan
2 Hawlucha
1 Suicune
1 Wobbuffet
1 Aegislash EX

Trainers: 37
3 Robo Substitute
1 Computer Search
3 Ultra Ball
3 Fighting Stadium
3 Muscle Band
2 Silver Bangle
3 Float Stone
2 Escape Rope
2 Vs Seeker
4 N
4 Professor Juniper
2 Colress
2 Lysandre
3 Korrina
1 Lysandre's Trump Card

Energy: 10
4 Strong Energy
4 Fighting Energy
2 Double Colorless Energy

If your response is "yep, that's a Donphan deck", your'e right! Thanks for visiting! However if you've got some insight or some tips for play, I'd love to hear that too!

I threw in the Trump card and in playtest it has helped a few times as I seem to Juniper and Ultra Ball away a LOT of stuff. I'm not on the "Trump Card sux" bandwagon so I think it's a very useful 1-of card and obviously it happens to hurt Night March, Bronzong, Flareon, etc. As for everything else clearly it's pretty standard for Donphan. I saw someone running Aegislash EX + Float Stone as a Donphan counter and it seemed really impressive and cruel lol, so I had to throw it in.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing your input!

Several thoughts/comments for your consideration and these insights stem from my experience in playing different F decks, as well as playing against Donphan-Walls decks.

IMO,

  • You are going to have/experience Supporter "clashes" (need/want to play a Korrina and another key Supporter during the same turn) by running 2 Colress, 4 N, 4 PJ and 3 Korrina. Consider replacing the Colresses with Bicycles which can provide some Item-based card draw.
  • In playing against this deck, I found that I could "easily" get around my friend's Walls and run him out of resources. Although you run LTC, also consider incorporating a Xerosic and/or Pokemon Center Lady. Should your opponent start with a Quaking Punch after he attaches a Head Ringer or poisons your active Poke, the Xerosic and/or PCL will be quite handy.
  • You may find running 3 Lysandre to be very helpful. Consider the Seismitoad EX deck matchup.
I hope you find these comments helpful.

Thanks for your input as usual, TuxedoBlack! here's my new decklist:

Pokémon: 13
4-4 Donphan
1 Keldeo EX
1 Zekrom
1 Suicune
1 Wobbuffet
1 Aegislash EX

Trainers: 37
3 Robo Substitute
1 Computer Search
2 Ultra Ball
3 Fighting Stadium
3 Muscle Band
2 Silver Bangle
3 Float Stone
1 Escape Rope
3 Vs Seeker
2 Bicycle
4 N
4 Professor Juniper
3 Korrina
2 Lysandre
1 Lysandre's Trump Card

Energy: 10
4 Strong Energy
4 Fighting Energy
2 Double Colorless Energy

I did a few playtest hands (haven't been able to actually play with it yet) and it feels a lot more competent. I have yet to have Hawlucha do anything for me (damn his ability lol) so I dropped him and changed my supporting Poké line. Keldeo's Rush-In/Float Stone trick helps Donphan out of sleep/paralysis/whatever and Zekrom is for Yveltal. I bumped Vs Seeker to 3 because I've found being able to pull *exactly* the supporter I want back has been invaluable, and if I had used or discarded a Lysandre early, that's immediately an option with Vs Seeker. I'll be playing this heavily this Sunday at my local League, so I will report back with its performance.

I'm a new player looking to start buying cards to play! I haven't even decided on a deck to pursue yet, so if you do well with this one please let me know! Thanks In advance [emoji5]️

Thanks for checking this deck-list out, and yes I have been doing extremely well with it at my local league! I think however that I may drop the two Silver Bangles for a fourth Muscle Band and a Professor's Letter. There are times when I just can't seem to pull any kind of :fighting: energy to save my life lol, and I've found that just "10 more damage, some of the time" isn't good enough to warrant using Silver Bangle over another Muscle Band. I also have a Donphan/Trevenant build that I've been testing and it seems to be doing okay too. I don't have the decklist with me at the moment but I'd be happy to share it if anyone was interested.

N is no longer apart of the standard format.
Incorrect. It was reprinted as BW Promo 100.
King Piplup is 100% correct. Please review the Standard-Legal Reprint List or check out the card here.

I run Donphan myself and if you are going for a Donphan/ Robo sub deck then ok but if it is a
Donphan/ walls deck then have more outrage pokemon and less ex pokemon, it's good to keep Donphan
at only giving your opponent 1 prize for each ko. Also I have run Evosoda and sometimes it's a good card to
have, other than those things I think your Decklist is a solid build. Good luck!
