Hi,

The Belgian Nationals were yesterday in Brussels... I'm just making this post as a place for anyone to talk about the event (as there's no other topic about it), and I'd like to thank everyone involved in the organisation and judging, as the event was top quality, with absoloutely no flaws! Special thanks to TO Jann and HJ Kristal (spelling?), as well as the other judge (sorry I didn't get your name).

The turnout was good, equalling last year's UK Nationals (I think)...

I will be posting a full report later, but for now I'll just say that Michel and his daughter are going to Worlds with a trip, and I'm into Worlds too. The winner of the overall tournament was from the Netherlands, and I was 2nd. :)

The results:

Winner: Manuel Broeks (15+ - NL)
Finalist: Irwin Chair (15+ - UK)
3rd Place: Laetitia Delhausse (11-14 - BE) -> Wins the Flight and Stay for the Pokemon World Championship, and is the new Belgian Champion :)
4th Place: Michel Delhausse (15+ - BE)
5th Place: Jeroen Robert (15+ - BE) -> Ex Belgian Champion
6th Place: Bjorn Nieuwkerk (11-14 - NL)
7th Place: Samuel Dirkse (10- - NL) -> the only 10- age group making Top 8, deserves an extra congratulations!
8th Place: Kevin de Mooij

There were a total of 49 participants (14/14/21), of who Manuel, Irwin, Laetita and Michel win an invitation to the World Championships, good luck there!

Judges names were Kristel, Kim and Sven, and thanks for the compliment :wink:

Belgium Nationals, something we look forward too whole year.
Meeting old friends, trading and playing.

This year a very relaxed tournament, even the weather helped (yee it was warm).
I think almost each player will look back at it with good memories.

Jann - Thanks for the tournametn and that the Dutch Players + supporters were welcome.
Kristel - You prooved you deserve to be Head Judge, go for it at Worlds.
Irwin - Thanks for trading the State Championship promocards
Samuel - Go for it boy, we will hear from you at the Dutch Nationals.
Manuel - Blastoise rulezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
 
Irwin FWIW the numbers for the UK Nationals last year

10-: 15
11-14: dont know
15+: 27

maybe a little down on the UK's figures for last year but certainly similar. BTW congrats to all who recieved an invite and to Laetitia who once again gets a trip to the USA!
