Rain Dance

Trying to find the "best" Raindance deck using Base Set - Fossil:setsF: sets.

Strategy: Get Water Energies on Blastoise using Rain Dance and attack, move damage counters on the bench using Alakazam's Damage Swap.

Pokemon: 14
Basics: 8

2 Alakazam - Is for moving damage counters around
2 Abra - Free retreat cost after switching a Special Conditioned Blastoise is nice
3 Blastoise - the main attacker
1 Wartortle - when facing something like Aerodactyl (Fossil)
4 Squirtle - to evolve into Blastoise
1 Scyther (Jungle) - Free retreat cost and Aerodactyl counter
1 Tentacool (Fossil) - move damage counters onto Tentacool and heal using Cowardice, if you need an extra card to Computer Search or Item Finder and Oak, you could discard Tentacool

Trainers: 34

4 Computer Search - you need this to get Professor Oak generally
4 Professor Oak - get the cards you need quicker
4 Pokemon Breeder - to evolve into Alakazam and Blastoise
3 Item Finder - get back Professor Oak or Pokemon Breeder
3 Bill - Draw 2 cards
3 Pokemon Trader - get the right evolutions faster
2 Super Energy Removal - since Raindance gets energy back faster, you should use this
2 Energy Removal - when you don't want to discard energy
2 Energy Retrieval - get back discarded energy
2 Gust of Wind - board control
2 Switch - board control
1 Scoop Up - board control and healing
2 Pluspower - makes 2-hit-kos, one-hit-kos

Energy: 12

12 :water:Water Energy - to get them onto Blastoise primarily in order to attack

Of course no Raindance deck is good enough without a Wigglytuff, Alakazam, and Scyther!

The strategy has changed since Wigglytuff can attack with more damage for less energy attachments, but is generally a secondary attacker.

Alakazam took up too much deck space. Thicker lines for more consistency.

Strategy: Try and attack with Blastoise or Wigglytuff (whichever does more damage at the time of the game).

I replaced Wigglytuff with Clefable, since it can deal more damage for less energy. Defender is used because of Chansey and 40 hp basics which can be OHKO'ed without Defender. You can also attach it to Blastoise when facing a fully powered Base Set Electrode. Scyther is put on the bench when you need to Switch back a Special Condition'd Blastoise or if you need to get rid of an effect. Gust of Wind is for easy prizes. Energy Removal and Super Energy Removal are used, because everyone else is playing them and you don't want to fall behind in energy count. Energy Removal is used when it's better to use than Super Energy Removal.
