I. Darkrai/Hydreigon - Caldwell, Idaho Battle Roads report - 8th place

Report by: juiniormccracken
Deck: Hydreigon/Darkrai EX w/ Terrakion tech
Event: Caldwell Battle Roads
Location: College of Idaho, Nampa ID
Format: Modified (BW-on)

II. Decklist

I'm not going to give my decklist away but just give you an idea - it was a basic Hydreigon/Darkrai EX list with a Terrakion tech which proves very valuable with the Darkrai EX match-up.

III. Deck Strategy

The whole goal of this deck is to build a Hydreigon and then hit with Darkrai while using Max Potions to deny prizes and Sableye to get back key trainer items.

IV. Reported Matches

Round 1: Hydreigon/Darkrai vs. Random deck with Eels (Jeremy Loppett)
Turn 1, I go first. I start Darkrai and Sableye, he starts 30 HP Tynamo. I play N and I get a Darkrai and Dieno in play. I attach an energy and think about Junk Hunt or Confuse Ray. I Confuse Ray but get tails. He got 2 more basics on his turn (Axew and Stunfisk - the 90 HP one). He attaches to his Stunfisk and promotes it and passes. I Rare Candy to Hydreigon and attach to Darkrai. Darkrai KOs the active and the Tynamo. He looks as his lone Axew and scoops.
Record: 1-0 (season 5-0)

Round 2: Hydreigon/Darkrai vs. Terrakion EX/Terrakion/Darkrai EX (Trenton Armas)
This was a good game that went the distance. I don't remember much but it ends up I'm 1 Blend energy short from attacking with Hydreigon for a Terrakion EX KO. Through out the game, he either plus powers or scraps my Eviolte to OHKO my Darkrais. Late game I get Ultra Ball and look for my Shaymin EX to take care of the Terrakion EXs that were wrecking my field. I have 2 prizes left at this point. One of those was my Shaymin EX. I try to wall with Shaymin EX since there is only EXs on his field. Next turn, he ends up getting the Catcher for the KO on my Darkrai EX. gg
Record: 1-1 (season 5-1)

Round 3: Hydreigon/Darkrai vs. Virizion/Terrakion EX/Terrakion/Garchomp/Mewtwo/<insert other random pokemon> (Dakota Culpits)
This game is my deckfail. It's foggy but I know early game was Sableye, Dieno, Dieno, Darkrai. I get 1 energy (Prism) and 1 Supporter (Cheren) in the first 4-6 turns. He Leaf Wallops to a cold KOs. I actually get setup and still manage to make it a game. I Juniper with 9 cards to get my Shaymin EX and miss it. Killer. Well I still get 2 prizes with a Darkrai EX - daring him to hit me with his Terrakion with 1 water energy. His deck is thin and lots of energy in the discard and 2 cards in hand. I like my chances. His top draw was Juniper. He hits his last Blend (FWML) energy and get the win. I end the game with the Shaymin EX and Catcher. He had a Terrakion EX on the bench and I had 2 prizes.
Record 1-2 (season 5-2)

Round 4: Hydreigon/Darkrai vs. Eels/Rayquaza EX/??? (Bill Todd)
This is a pretty odd game. He lays down tons of Tynamos T1 and Charges with a Thundurus. Turn 2, no Eels and another Charge from Thundurus. I setup my field and start to roll him. He ended up with 2 Eels (which ended up catcher/KO'ing them) and I OHKO a Rayquaza EX (with my Hydreigon) and 2 shot the other Rayquaza EX with the help of 2 Darkrai hits with a Catcher in between. Ugly game for him.
Record 2-2 (season 6-2)

Round 5: Hydreigon/Darkrai vs. Dark Deck (Mr. Balzer, Pokedad)
This game is another quick one. T1, I lay down pokemon, T2 I Night Spear his only Cobalion. T3 I KO his only Cobalion.
Record 3-2 (season 7-2)

V. Props/Slops, etc.

Props:
Another solid day with this deck - having 2 losses that would of been wins if I had 1 more turn each.
PTO - Jim B.
My family during well - my brother (3rd), wife (4th), son (1st in Juniors) and nephew (4th in Seniors).
Finishing with a 7-2 record for the weekend.

Slops:
My deck-fail against Dakota.
My wife going undefeated until the last round each day, losing that game and finishing 4th both days. :(
My friends who had to leave so they got losses instead of drops which effected the whole top standings since there were 5 4-1s.
Fist Pokemon because I use Pokemon allergic to Fist type
