Despite this being my first high level pokemon tourney I was pretty calm the whole day knowing that I was just going to play the best I could, play well, and of course have fun. I decided on playing an empoleon deck since I didnt have the cards to play GG.
Round 1 Me(Andrew J) vs Grachomp(Debbie)
To tell you the truth I was scared of this matchup since I had not tested it very much and it was something that could hit hard and fast. I get out to a slow start and she already had a turn 2 garchomp. I sit there wondering how I am going to get out of this. I didnt worry myself I just thought about what outs I had to a garchomp with an electric energy. I need a claydol first to start refilling my hand and thats what I got off the top and from there I took control of the game and managed to get ahead just in time to win with only 2 prize cards remaining to her 3.

Round 2 Me Vs Torterra(jade)
Now to my dismay this is my worst matchup and it is the same deck my friend bidier told me to play. I thought maybe if I can draw my warp points when I need them I will be fine but even that didnt help me in this match. So eventually one swift beating later from torterra I lose with 3prizes to jades 2

Round 3 me vs GG (Sorry cant remember the name)
So with my first GG match of the day how will things go...well things couldnt have gone worse for my opponent after getting his claydol smashed by my cloyster...yes I rolled 4 heads with cloyster...then quickly killing of his gardiveor there wasent much left before I left him with no basics in play. After we finished he flipped up his prizes to show me that 3 of his raltz were prized...how lucky

Round 4 me vs Machamp(Andrew)
So I was surprised to see a machamp deck at 2-1 but there is always room for good matchups and a little luck so I took it as it came. I felt bad for my opponent rolling 8tails in a row while my phione just beat up his machamp. I took this game down not to many turns later with a dual splash killing his last 2 basics.

Round 5 Me vs GG (dexter)
Now lets see this time what happens. He goes first turn raltz call energy into another raltz and a baltoy. This seems like its going to be a little harder then last time. After dealing with 2 gardiveor dexter plays a celio's networks searching for.......nothing...WHAT a couple turns later I win and once again I see my opponents prizes and there is a raltz, a gardiveor and a galade all prized. Now I am just astounded at the luck I am having this day.

Round 6 Me Vs Terry
Now going to this round I felt really unsafe do to the fact that my tiebreakers where 2nd worst of the 4-1's. I am extremely excited to see my opponent lay down a magmar and then I just play the match like there is no chance of me losing...Oh yeah time of course the only thing that could have wrecked me in the position I was in. I was losing in prize cards he had 2 and I had 3 he was about to end his turn when time was called which would have meant I get to finish my turn and then tie the prize cards meaning we would continue playing till another prize card is drawn. I lost to my best matchup and had to hope that my tiebreakers held up to make top16.

Top16 Me Vs kevin GG
To start of I have only beaten gg decks that had bad draws and horrible prizes so it is no wonder that I have been able to beat the deck as I have all day. I come into this round expecting to maybe sneak 2 wins out in 3 games but that wasent the case.
Game 1:
I set up fast but the GG deck is so unforgiving if you give it the supports it needs to win eventually I had a roseanne's, a celio's and a professor oak's visit in my bin he was just able to return anything I killed right back to play with night maintenance and my supports.

Game 2:
I have the best start I can with turn 2 empoleon and a DRE. dual splash for 20 to each of his raltz and then he takes his second turn and just evolves to gardiveor and galade and I just look at him speechless. I couldn't do anything against that he use his deck the way it has been known to play and after getting rid of my empoleon's and then leaving me in a psychic lock and only claydol in play I proceed to scoop up my cards and wish my opponent good luck in his later rounds.

Would I have played anything different knowing the field: Maybe a rogue deck that took advantage of GG
would I do it again: Of course
If you had to change cards in your deck what would they be and why: Well I like the way i built the deck so I probably wouldn't change a thing.
What round did you enjoy most: The 2nd round. I have always been a fan of the torterra deck and since it was a friends list it makes it that much more satisfying.
What round was the worst: Obviously the top 16 I just wasn't in the match at all.
Did you expect to do as well as you did: I didn't expect to play as well as I did and doing well was basically just me playing well all day and not making any mistakes. So I didn't expect it but I am glad I did do well.
So in closing congrats to malcolm and brendan for top 2 and I hope everyone else enjoyed the day as much as I did. Of course not to forget my manager Mike placed 22nd WHICH IS AWESOME and his son Cal finished 4th in the juniors Which is Awesome as well!! WAY TO GO CAL! and my friend harper I think he finished in the top 30 so I am sorry for the pachi(friend thing) and I hope you still had fun. I hope malcolm and brendan have fun at worlds and I cant wait for the next season.
