    Appalachian State?

  3. Sometimes they play exhibition games from around the World. At least they did before the World got better.

It was Findlay (in NW Ohio). It's just an exhibition game, as an OSU fan I'm not too concerned about it.

Michigan St. lost to a DII school as well, Grand Valley State I believe. College's have always had exhibition games since I can remember having season tickets, which has been like 18 years. They used to just play teams that were made up of former college stars, like Athletes in Action or EA Sports, but the trend the last few years has been to schedule a lower division opponent so you could play against an actual team that has been together and practiced together for a while.

Question: Why is it such a big fuss if a college from some "lower" division wins against some big state university? Seriously, I don't get it.

It's just ehibition, and it's been going on for a long time. On the topic of the Big 10 though: they suck in football and basketball.

Drew: The UK game is part of the season starting Coaches agst Cancer or some other tourney leading up to a "final 4" in MSG. Now. Gardner-Webb gets to crash the party, with UConn expected to be one of the 4 teams left (they play tonight). This tourney usually sets up several "patsys" w/ the 4 teams they really want in MSG, so it gives the "big boys" 2 freebie Ws (G-W didnt get that memo obv! ) before they knock heads in MSG.

These games count and the UK fans are not happy today! Of course, I am an Indiana Univ. grad...so I am laughing my a-- off.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

The tournament, benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer, had been set up to send four top programs -- No. 3 Memphis, Connecticut, Oklahoma and Kentucky -- to New York next week to play in the semifinals.

However, instead of the Wildcats, Gardner-Webb, which finished 9-21 last season and tied for seventh in the Atlantic Sun Conference, will play the winner of Thursday night's game between Buffalo and Connecticut. For anyone who is wondering...here are the teams in the mighty A-Sun Conf :
    Atlantic Sun
    Team Conf. W-L Tot. W-L
    Gardner-Webb 0-0 2-0
    Belmont 0-0 0-0
    Campbell 0-0 0-0
    East Tenn. St. 0-0 0-0
    Fla. Gulf Coast 0-0 0-0
    Jacksonville 0-0 0-0
    Kennesaw St. 0-0 0-0
    Lipscomb 0-0 0-0
    Mercer 0-0 0-0
    North Florida 0-0 0-0
    S.C. Upstate 0-0 0-0
    Stetson 0-0 0-0

Don't forget Gardner-Webb has only been DI for I want to say like 4 years now. And the A-Sun hasn't won a tournament game in like 15 years or something like that. Good thing UK went out and hired that d-specialist in Gillespie...whoops. Here's to hoping the same thing doesn't happen to my Aggies or Utes this year.
