Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Create a Card Contest: Two Types, Two Cards

Let me know if I need to clarify anything.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Sneasel
Type: Dark
HP: 60
Pic: The entrance to a darkened allyway, where one can make out one set of gleaming white claws and set of eyes glowing a sort of violet/crimson.
Weakness: Fighting
Resistance: Psychic
Retreat: C
Poke-Power: Shadow Slip
When Sneasel is targeted by an effect, you may discard a (D) Energy from Sneasel to prevent all parts of the effect done to Sneasel. This Power can't be used if Sneasel is affected by a Special Condition.

(D) Shadow Strike [30]
You opponent flips a coin. If heads, this attack does nothing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Sneasel
Type: Water
HP: 60
Pic: A Sneasel rushing a Machoke frozen in ice. Their eyes are locked.
Weakness: Fighting
Resistance: None
Retreat: C
(W) Icy Stare
Flip two coins. If either is heads, the Defending Pokemon is Paralyzed.
(WWW) Shatter
If Sneasel used Icy Stare on last turn and Paralyzed the Defending Pokemon, then the Defending Pokemon is Knocked Out. (If either Pokemon was Benched or Evolved between then and now, this attack does nothing).
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The first card is meant to give the idea of a Sneasel slipping in and out of the shadows. Sneasel's attack needs a Darkness Energy, so you can use Shadow Slip a few times before you might as well let it get KO'd (no darkness Energy emans no attck and no power :p). The extra dependence on Darknes Energy should make it tricky to use effectivley. Basically, if you run it, its should be your only Dark Pokemon. If you can give it a steady supply of (D) energy, you should be able to use it to stall and maybe even build an early lead... though most any Fighitng Pokemon can kill it quick if said flow is interrupted.

The Water(Ice) version has sort of a "Subzero" feel to it. I made it about as strong as that one Misdreavous, except that as a Ice Type, it is much easier to fit in deck: again, either warm up (lol) with it and should you have the opportunity get a rpize or two. Might be fun with Focus band and 'Stoise in Unlimited :p

This contest is now closed for entries. However, I will not start judging until Thursday. So, what will happen until then? Well, everyone who has made an entry in this contest may use this time to make minor edits to their entries. Examples of acceptable changes would be fixing spelling mistakes, changing the names of attacks or Pokemon Powers, etc. If you want to make a change and are not sure whether it's ok, please send me a PM. Do not post your questions. Warning: any edits made to entries after I post the first entry score (surfingpika's) WILL result in that entry being disqualified.

I am officially extending the "edit period" until this Sunday. Scores will go up over the following week.

Magneton (L) 80HP

Poke-Power (Chaos Wave)
When you play Magneton from your hand to evolve one of yur Pokemon, you may pick one of Poke-Power in play. Magneton copies that power and everything else required to use that power. This power ends if Magneton attacks.

(L) Negative Ion
Put two damage counters on each of your opponent's pokemon with only one attack.

(L) Positive Ion
Put two damage counters on each of your opponent's pokemon with two attacks.

Weakness (F)
Resistance
Retreat Cost (*)(*)

Magneton (M) 80HP

Poke-Body (Bounce Back)
Prevent all effects of attack, except damage, done to any of your active Pokemon. Instead, the attacking Pokemon is now affected by those effects.

(M)(C)(C) Magnetic Power 50
Flip two coins. If both are heads, you may draw two cards and put two other cards onto your deck. If you have less cards in your hand, ignore this effect.

Weakness (R)
Resistance (G)
Retreat Cost (*)(*)

How's that?

can we have these things graded before the turn of the next century?

Sorry. I hate doing to this you (again), but things have been popping up, and I don't seem to have the time to do this at the moment. I may be able to find time over the Thanksgiving break, but I can unfortunately offer no promises.

it is now about 3 hours from the end of Thanksgiving break. When are these things gonna get done? I only ask b/c if I take 20 mins out of my time to do these things, I'd like to get at least some feedback. Thx. And, sry for bein a b**** bout all this.

If it's not too late, I need to make the following changes:

entry 1:
Poke-Power: Shadow Slip
When Sneasel is targeted by an effect, you may Discard a (D) Energy from Sneasel to prevent all parts of the effect done to Sneasel. This Power can't be used if Sneasel is affected by a Special Condition.

entry 2:
(WWW) Shatter
If Sneasel used Icy Stare on last turn and Paralyzed the Defending Pokemon, then the Defending Pokemon is Knocked Out (If either Pokemon was Benched or Evolved between then and now, this attack does nothing).

I list them here incase I am too late.

I've decided to cancel this contest, as it doesn't look like I'll be getting around to grading it. Sorry all. The entries were impressive.

I propose we either a)find someone else to judge or b)vote on it ourselves. For option be, I propose we use dkates scoring rubric and score each others (but not our own) cards, then we vote for the one we think is best (you may then vote for your own). You must explain why you voted the way you did (which if you were thorough in scoring, means you will jsut need to highlight things in it). Any takers?

I'm for option b. I'd love to see what you guys think of each other's cards. Thanks for the idea, Otaku.

Surfingpika: It seems to me that Dkates would not take 11 points of a card because the attack was unorginal. Why dont we have each participant choose their three top favorites (other than their own) and pm me the reasons why.
