Feel free to post your own Dual Stage Pokemon cards in this thread!

Basic Lucario
:fighting: 70HP
Basic and Stage 1
Can evolve from Riolu (but doesn't have to).

:pokeball:Basic Rule:
Counts as both a Basic Pokemon and a Stage 1 Pokemon while not in play. While in play, counts as the appropriate Stage only (e.g. If it evolved, it is Stage 1, if it didn't, it is Basic).

Ability: Basic Evolution
If this Pokemon evolved from Riolu, it gains 60 HP and pays :colorless: less to attack and retreat.

:colorless::colorless::colorless: Evolutionary Aura
Evolve as many of your Benched Pokemon as you like, once each, by searching your hand and deck for the Pokemon they can evolve into. (You can evolve them even if this is their first turn in play.)

:fighting::colorless::colorless: Aura Sphere 60
Does double damage if this Pokemon's Stage of evolution is the same as the Defending Pokemon's.

[Weak: :fire: / Resist: :dark: / Retreat: :colorless:]

-----

Basic Gengar
:psychic: 100HP
Basic and Stage 2
Can evolve from Haunter (but doesn't have to).

:pokeball:Basic Rule:
Counts as both a Basic Pokemon and a Stage 2 Pokemon while not in play. While in play, counts as the appropriate Stage only (e.g. If it evolved, it is Stage 2, if it didn't, it is Basic).

Ability: Evolution Bond
If the opponent's Active Pokemon is the same Stage of evolution as this Pokemon, and this Pokemon is Knocked Out by damage from the opponent's Active Pokemon's attack, Knock Out the opponent's Active Pokemon.

:psychic: Upsetting the Balance
If this Pokemon is a Basic Pokemon, devolve 1 Pokemon in play to its lowest Stage of evolution possible (by discarding the higher Stages on top of it). If this Pokemon is a Stage 2 Pokemon, evolve 1 Pokemon in play to its highest Stage of evolution possible (by searching that player's deck and discard pile for its evolution(s)). (You can skip Stage 1 and evolve directly to Stage 2.)

:psychic: Team Effort 30x
Does 30 damage times the number of Evolved Pokemon in play.

[Weak: :psychic: / Resist: :colorless: / Retreat: Zero]

Glad someone though about this kind of thing.. I used to have a couple of card spoiler like this.. But my spoiler's attack effect depends on their stage. Agree with Rockendorf, Lucario is kinda overpowered for able being a basic so as Gengar's Team Effort. Might need to reword the Basic Rule and statement under the stage.. Can't imagine it in a card since it have rule + ability + 2 attacks. I think the HP if they were basic is kinda a bit to much..

I always seem to make Pokemon too powerful. As for the card space issue, I know there's been times before where a card has had rule + pokepower + 2 attacks, so I don't think it's that big an issue.

Edited some numbers on the cards, if they're still too powerful, feel free to suggest some fixes.

I like this idea. I'll take it a step further and introduce triple stage pokemon.

Basic Charizard.
:fire: 90HP
Basic, Stage 1, and Stage 2.
Can evolve from Charmander or Charmeleon, but doesn't have to.

:pokeball:Basic Rule:
Counts as a basic, stage 1, and stage 2 while not in play. While in play, it counts only as the appropriate stage (if it evolved from Charmeleon, it's a stage 2, if it evolved from Charmander, it's a stage 1, if it didn't evolve, it's a basic.)

Ability: Evolutionary Growth
This pokemon gains 30HP for each stage it is (30 more HP if stage 1, 60 more HP is stage 2)

:fire: Flare 20+
This attack does 10 more damage for each evolutionary stage this pokemon is. (10 more damage if stage 1 20 more if stage 2)

:fire::colorless::colorless::colorless: Flame Thrower 90
This attack costs one less :colorless: energy for each evolutionary stage this pokemon is :)colorless: less if stage 1, :colorless::colorless: less if stage 2). Discard a :fire: energy attached to this pokemon.

Weakness: :water: x2
Resistance: :fighting: -20
Retreat Cost: :colorless::colorless:

Write to the people making the game, please. This would be awesome.

Don't they like to do crazy stuff every few sets to mix things up? Like making the pokemon weird types they usually aren't? Or some Lost Zone thing? This would be so fun to play.

I would also kind of like this method to limit how powerful and fast decks are getting. Like instead of Darkrai EX with the power it has now, let it have that kind of power if it does something that takes more than a turn. Not evolve I guess.... but have another Darkrai card it can become an EX from. Maybe make EX cards yield 3 prizes if they don't go through stages. Sort of like since they didn't gradually become EX's they burn out magnificently. Or all attacks cost double energy.
