Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Eastern Regional Championship - Greensboro, NC - 5/14/05 *UPDATE*

One of the very best tournaments I have ever had the pleasure to attend.

Great job Jeff, Mike, and all who gave us this fun fun weekend!

Man, all i ask is, why did Slaking exist? lol. This was a very good tourny, and i think i was the only one in 11-14 playing Metattack, so i'm proud about going 5-0 and then getting top 4. And good job Prof. Chris, and nice job everyone else.

What a blast!! Although Tennessee didn't win any trips yet, we did habe some T8s in the 11-14 group and big bag winner at friday night tourney. As a judge in 15+, it was a pleasur to see so much good gamesmanship throughout the tourney. It was nice to see many people from the 'Gym and meet many more than I knew before! Hope to see y'all out there on the "Pokemon Trail" that ends in San Diego!!

:pokeball: The Head Judge`s Final Report :pokeball:

This event went off perfectly and everything ran smoothly. From beginning to end, all facets of the event was a total success. Jeff did a great job on the picking of the site (and you wouldn`t believe the little time he had to actually secure it) and even the hotels lobby extra room was perfect for our "Midnight Tourney" the night before.

The players, the judges, the staff were all great. Enough can`t be said but I will try to thank all groups below. If I forget someone or something, please by all means, lmk. I had a blast and look forward to the next big event.

`Sensei

The players: Wow. You guys and girls were outstanding. The sportsmanship you showed was exemplary. Even with the few tough rulings that had to be made, the players on the "receiving end" of the rulings were gracious. Enough can`t be said to even remotely cover how impressed the whole judging staff was with all of you. Great job and I thank each and every one of you for your great sportsmanship!!!

The Parents: I want to personally thank every parent that lets their kids come to these events and play in this great game. Even if you don`t play the game yourself, it`s great to see what you will do for your child and that you realize the positive impact and learning that you get. From emotional to intellectual to family bonding, it`s sad to realize some other parents just can`t see this. Thank you!!!

The Judges: Rick L (10-,11-14 HJ), Keith H (15+ J), Javier S (15+ J), Brian L (11-14 J), Stephen V (11-14 J), Bob W (10- J), and Mike B (10- J). You guys did an outstanding job!!! I was impressed with your professionalism and knowledge and also of how you handled any situation thrown at you. I wouldn`t hesitate to have you staff any event I`m involved with in the future and I would also back you guys up if you need any recommendations. You guys get an A+ for job well done!!! It was a pleasure working with each and every one of you. Thank you!

The Computer staff/ New Player area: 10- Toni R, 11-14 Mike S, 15+ Wendy C, New Player "Developement" Randy C. You guys did a great job and got the next round results out in a very timely manner which is crucial to getting the tournament run in a timely manner and also makes the event a more pleasant one for the players in that the rounds can keep flowing. Thanks for a job well done! It was also good to see that there were no problems with the software at all. Also, great job Randy for helping any newer players learn the game. Thanks!

Jeff R - PTO: Jeff, you did one helluva job in every aspect of this event. From the site to the event and all the little things between, you were outstanding. It`s great to see how far alot of PTO`s have come and Jeff, you are one of the top ones in my book. Great job!

I'm not very photogenic. Why did there have to be SO many pictures of me? :O

You deserve all the pics you got. :) You won it all in one of the toughest fields ive ever seen. Good job on the win and good luck in worlds.

Now on to the pictures. Sensei you did a great job in the picture department for this event. I laughed so hard when i saw that one of you getting down.

I saw that i got caught in the camera during the late night tourney when a was thinking during a turn.

All in all it was great and it was nice to see so many diffrent people. I met alot of new players and some old ones. Battled and talked with a guy who had 2 genius ideas for decks and for the first time met prime from the boards

Prime: You are a cool guy and it was nice to meet up with you. Too bad you got knocked off at 16th but hey next time youll do better

Sensei, feraligatr and rocketman: You both did an excellent job as judges and ill be looking forward to seing all of you in natioanls as judges again

Check out the pictures. I'm so good at this game that I can play it just like I accept trophies....with my eyes closed.

...Ugh i feel so underaccomplished, well at least one of my friends handed me a cup that had a charizard sticker on it and said "First Knocked Out From The Top 8"

...*Sigh* Another Loss to add to my record

But, i thought i wouldn't even get into the top 8 but i did so im still proud of at least that. Fer and Sensei and Rocketman all did great for organizing, it was a great tourney even though i really didn't do much as for scoring and congrats to the dude who won, i still wish it would have been Mike though he had the right mind set man.

Good Job Judges,

PS: Look at the top 8 thing im going against mike and i have really long hair.

Well, Team Rocket's Rocketman finally giving his 11- 14 & 10 & Under HJ report! First of all, I want to give crazy mad props to Jeff & Toni for an awesome event. :thumb: They worked like first class Rocket Minions ( ha) and had everything covered. He put a great staff for me to work with, Bob in 10 & under was one of the best I've ever seen. He made my job so much easier, and really had fun with the kids!
'Sensei was his usual self....... .....which is a big reason the event ran so well! Always great to work with him.
The players were a pleasure to judge, with everything running smooth as silk! They knew the game so well, and displayed such great sportsmanship, they made my job easy. Congrats to all the winners!
And of course props to the kids that I drove up, you guys really made it worth the drive! Chris and Brent winning 1-2 in 15 & up, Kyle making top 8, and Dylan going 4-0 in 'Sensei's night before tourny, and winning another booster draft ( he loves to draft, but he won the wrong tournaments!), and Alan for having the guts to play his red face paint deck! I'd drive you guys to China to play!
To all the kids who auditioned for Team Rocket, you are all the bomb! More auditions at a future regional to come!
And to all the old friends I saw there, Joe, Jim, Gary, John, Steven, Heidi ( and kids), anyone else I'm forgetting!
And a big thanks to Mike Schell, my brother in arms here in Dixieland. He worked his first big time event flawlessly!
Rocketman

A HUGE THANKS to all the head judges, judges, and staff for all their hard work in making this event a big success and go so smoothly!!! Thanks guys.

The teamwork was crucial to the success and the whole crew was one big team. :thumb:

That Judges Theme Deck/Booster tourney was fun even if we did get booted out by the guard and could only play two rounds. Did good except when my Shiftry disappeared!

Its tough to win Sensei when you fan action your own Shiftry away  We had a blast, even with being tossed out of the Center by the Guard. What a grumpy Gus he was, wouldnt even bring us extra garbage bags to help clean up the spill overs. We will see many of you in San Diego, if not before then!

This was a wonderfully run event from this players standpoint. Very time efficient which was great when facing almost 700 miles of driving directly after finishing up playing. My props:

Jeff, you and your staff pulled off a good one- way to go!
Sensei, what can i say Mike, your the best! I mean that. Good to c you again.
Rocketman- same as above. You , too, are a class act. And your guys from La/Ms. can sure play.
Lawman, nice to meet you and your family. And you did a very good job judging. Hope our paths cross again.
Adv1ser, I have a new found respect for you and no longer have any distention towards you. Glad we spoke.
Stephen V., good to c you as well. Miss you and your creative deck ideas down here in Fl.
And of course Chris and Brent for stepping up when they needed to. Steve and i will c you at worlds- one way or another .

The only slops are on me for not pulling top 2. This says just how good the staff ran this event!

Thanks again to all the staff for making this event happen. You all rose to the occasion and these 2 players both appreciate it very much.

~John~
